Coach Miles will be coming up to Shreveport to speak to the Caddo-Bossier Alumni group at East Ridge Country Club on Tuesday, June 14 at Noon. We just found out so I am posting on the rant to get the word out. Here is the announcement:
Ther Caddo-Bossier LSU Alumni and Fans will host its annual catfish dinner at noon on Tuesday, June 14, at East Ridge Country Club featuring Coach Les Miles.
The cost is $35 per person if paid beforehand and $45 at the door. Send payment to 7600 Fern Ave., Bldg 1300, Shreveport 71105.
The event is open to everyone. Included in the price is all you can eat fried catfish and chicken with all of the trimmings and all you can drink beer.
We will be raffling off two tickets to the LSU-Florida and LSU-Auburn games.
For information contact Larry Higdon at 869-1061.

Very nice. When I first moved back to Lake Charles after graduation we had a Southwest Louisiana LSU Alumni Association and we would put on a function every year called "Tigerama." We'd get whoever we could get from one of the athletic programs to come and speak. We'd serve jambalaya or something similar, tickets were affordable, you could bring your whole family, and the proceeds funded a small scholarship we offered for a deserving LSU student from the area.
Quite a few years ago that event was hijacked by another and now you can participate in a golf tournament or go see the coaches speak for $100 a pop -- real affordable, eh? And the beneficiary of the proceeds now is the Charles McClendon Scholarship Foundation that provides scholarships for former LSU football players.
Now I don't begrudge scholarships for former football players a bit but it still sticks in my craw that we aren't able to offer family styled entertainment at an affordable price for Joe Blow to come see our coaches live and in person.
So congratulations to Caddo-Bossier LSU Alumni for keeping it real.

That is a great deal. In Houston we pay $50 to the TD Club and get chicken or beef with purple mash potatoes and all of the free iced tea or coffee we want. Cash bar is available.

That amount also covers the membership fee into the local chapter and admission to our Kickoff to Tiger Football party in August. We serve all you can eat jambalaya and all you can drink beer at that event. More importantly, the money goes directly toward funding LSU Alumni scholarships.
Admins, is there any way I can get a sticky for this thread?
