RIP Yogi.

Here is an article with 35 Yogi quotes. I can imagine Miles saying these:

LINK

quote:

“I usually take a two-hour nap from 1 to 4.”

“We made too many wrong mistakes.”

“You can observe a lot by watching.”

“The future ain’t what it used to be.”

“It gets late early out here.”

“Baseball is 90 percent mental. The other half is physical.”

Les Speak is much more subtle, and even entertaining.
"Lets just say I will be deceptively honest".

Les isn't even close to being that clever.

When Les wants to he can be crystal clear (eg his going off on a reporter who suggested Russell Shepard was a "flop" after the 2013 Ole Miss game. His press conference just before the SEC Championship game to name a few)
I think he is very deliberate when he is speaking and knows what form his answers and comments will take.

Not even remotely close. Yogi's sayings were a result of his cleverness and wit. Les just blabs nonsensical words that have no meaning to him or anyone.

When Miles' want is great he can clearly verbalize the subject at hand.

Look at my sig from earlier this year:

Yogi's saying we're*most definitely NOT witticisms. He was sincere. He and Mickey Rivers once had a sincere conversation about "if Jesus played baseball, what his batting average would be".

*autocorrect

this.

Yoga was like a poet. Very clever.

Les's quotes are shallow. Never clever.

I don't really see any similarities between the two. CLM has a really unique way of choosing words that normally wouldn't be used - like, "we are going to continue to run the plays we enjoy". Nothing like Yogi's sayings. I love when CLM says stuff like this. I love his quirkiness.

Somebody last year on this board did a Les Thanksgiving parody that was hilarious.
