I get why he does it and even in a way respect it, but that shite isn't going to cut it in the SEC in 2016. When you do this, the players start getting bored and sloppy, allowing inferior opposition to mkae plays and get back in the game. This is going to cost this team wins sooner or later and it is 100% preventable and 100% on LES.

From my thread last night...

First drive of second half: either a screen pass or short run, don't remember which. Pass to tight end that's overthrown. Touches his hand but can't bring it down. Pass on cross route over the middle, bad throw incomplete, punt. Can't blame Les here.

Second drive: Screen for -1. Fournette for 12. Offsides on State, Fournette fumble at midfield. Can't blame Les here.

Third drive: From our own 7 yard line...Run for 4, Run for 1, Pass complete for 20 yards called back by holding. Etling rush for 8 escaping pressure, 3 yards short. Punt. Can't blame Les when the play calling worked, called back for penalty (who was a center forced to play left tackle by 3 line injuries)

Fourth drive: From our 1 yard line...Fournette for 1, incomplete pass, Fournette for 11, first down. Fournette for 14, first down. Pass to Dural for 8. Guice for 3, first down. Pass to Chark for 11, first down. Fournette for 10, first down. Etling rush for 3. Chop block penalty for 15 yards...now 2nd and 22. Pass to Dupre for 17. Guice for 4. Fournette fumble on 4th and 1 from State's 35. Can't blame Les here either. Every call was good. The penalty hurt, and even it was overcome until the fumble.

Fifth Drive: Fournette for 2, End around for -4, Incomplete pass that was thrown away avoiding big time pressure. Punt. Questionable call on the end around, but after not showing anything special the entire half, if that play goes for 40, the Rant goes crazy. Les/Cam took a shot and State played it well.

Show me where he took his foot off the gas. What would you have done differently, coach?

He needs to take a lesson from Petrino.

Not sure if I agree with you on that. We were throwing out of our own endzone and went for it on 4th down. The two fumbles by LF and personal foul chop block ended the last three drives.

Les should have run the ball more in the second half.

chop block and fumble were on same drive. Etling actually made a 17 yard pass, followed by 5 yard Guice run, then the fumble on 4th and 1

he was predictable as hell that last drive, run, run pass. punt. could not put game away on offense.

but yes overall i was happy to see more passing especially in 2nd half. we barely beat a scrub at home at night. let's see where that gets us after auburn and florida on the road. hopefully we are undefeated in sec play before bama.

I agree we saw a different approach to play calling.

Unfortunately we've seen this result before, wash rinse repeat.

Focus and killer instinct are a coached behavior. I think we relaxed, the "we've got this" mentality and in my opinion it hurt us. Similar to what we've seen with our yearly Less approach to an inferior Arkansas squad.

Some good things though...

- O line looked much better
- Etling has good pocket presence
- D is starting to understand Aranda's scheme
- An SEC win is a win!!!

On to the Coaches Hot Seat Bowl

If Les would have done more run run, pass in the second half, MSU wouldn't have had a chance to come back

Great offensive play calling all night. You pick the ONLY drive where we go run, run pass. Never change, Rant, never change.

You think we are the only team in the country that ever goes run, run, pass with a lead and 3 minutes left?

Can't take the chance to throw on 1st and 2nd and stop the clock on the last drive. Leave Msu with more time. Football 101...

Interesting post. My buddy was over watching the game with me and commented on how we looked like a different team second half. We both said coaching, I will have to watch again and look for what you said.

Please tell us, specifically, how and when we took our foot off the gas in the second half because victory was achieved. Which drive did this start?
