IMO...2005 was one of his (if not the) best coaching jobs ever. Winning all those games with no bye week and making it to the SECCG was quite an accomplishment

I agree. Taking Saban's 2004 9-3 team to 11-2 in the face of that shitshow is very impressive

and when they finally got a break they absolutely demolished Miami and their #2 defense.

makes me wonder what could've been had we gotten a break before the SECCG

Still wouldn't have been up for a Natty even if we beat Tennessee and UGA that year. Media had USC vs Texas match up pegged before the year started. Luckily it was the GOAT game.

Yeah that was a 'great' game with both defenses sucking. No way LSU could have beat either of them...

That had to be one of the worse NC games in the past two decades. Neither team fielded a defense. Have the last place team play the second to last place team and the game would probably have been no different. The media is never right...

Point is no way LSU would have been given a chance to play in the game even if undefeated. Same as Auburn the year before. I don't think many of ya'll remember that this SEC SEC thing didn't exist 10 years ago.

Totally agree. I was so proud of that team and staff.

No reasonable argument against this.

Some people point out that Tennessee game as a reason they started hating Miles. It was clear that the team was gassed and that was, to me, why we lost it. There is no way that the team got the normal amount of conditioning as Katrina and its aftermath were going on. I remember stories of how much weight players had lost.

Miles did a great job that season, regardless of whose players they originally were.

It also helped to have great leaders like Andrew Whitworth, Joe Addai, and Kyle Williams

Why is it impossible for mental defectives to not make a comment referencing Saban any thread devoted to Les Miles?

That Tenn game hurt...big time. That stadium was electric at halftime. Top 10 matchup, Katrina still in the rear view mirror, Monday night football in Tiger Stadium, national TV.... Then heartbreak in OT to a team that finished with a losing record.

Was it Bowe who talked mad shite after the game and started a fight with the miami players?

Possibly the most lopsided bowl game I can remember. We absolutely destroyed Miami.

Never seen a team go from hyped to completely deflated quite like that in the second half. Mentally the team just did not have enough in the tank but you cannot blame Louisiana had just gotten blasted by cat 5 storms

from what i recall it was a misunderstanding. Bowe and a Miami player that he went to high school with were messing around after the game. The other Miami players thought it was real and decided to jump in...then all hell broke loose. I think a couple of Miami players got sent to the hospital.

Miami got that arse beat on the field and in the tunnel that night
