I agree with ESPN. Its Frank Wilson whos reeling in all the recruits. Miles better hope that wilson stays put. Our instate players are already bolting for Bama ( see williams and falkins), if wilson leaves, there will be mass exodus of recruits

what has been the recruiting class rank for the last 5 years? Is it getting better or worse?

LSU recruits itself. We could be a lot better with a better coach than miles

CLM is a top five recruiter.

ESPN is playing favorites as usual.

Not worth taking seriously.

I would be satisfied if Gameday never sets foot on campus ever again. ESPN...

I suspect ESPN does not respect CLM game management decisions which causes lack of respect for recruiting ability.
A mass exodus of underclassmen somehow may add to this.

The obvious solution is to just win. Winning silences the critics and pardons past mistakes. Losing the chicken bowl may have hurt us more than the NC among the ESPN talking heads. They obviously believe we are a program in decline.

simple explanation for this:

LSU is in a talent-rich part of the country. les miles isn't seen as much of a recruiter bc he honestly does NOT have to work too hard to attract a lot of LOCAL talent to LSU.

there is no big-time, in-state competition for the top recruits... not from tulane, ULM, or ULL.

miles can roam i-10 btw gulfport & houston in a car and land a top-notch class... doesn't even need a flight.

Your explanation isn't so simple.
The LA talent isn't so great an SEC competitive class could be signed each year while all the other programs expand recruiting horizons.
Nor could you pull an avg #8 class from within the borders, even without losing a big fish here or there.
Roughly half, or 13 LSU verbals are from out of state.

IMO, it doesnt take a great recruiter to get talent to LSU. We are the lone powerhouse in a state full of talent, plus we are close to east Texas and can grab some recruits from the rest of the south.

The talent drain from Louisiana to out of state schools in the nineties would indicate otherwise.
