Why didn't last year's baseball team win it all?

Did we have a talented team? Yes
Were we the only talented team? No

Last year's team was built for the regular season. Postseason play is all about starting pitching and quality depth in the bullpen. That team didn't have quality depth in the bullpen nor a third starter which was masked, nationally not locally, by the fact the lineup could beat up most Sunday starters and most team's bullpens.

If Poche makes a couple throws to first, we could be having a whole different conversation. No saying we would have won it or even have made it to the series. But that first game was on him. And I'm not bashing. He knows it. We all know it.

I totally agree and if they win that game the fact they didn't have a third starter is never brought up because they might have gotten away with winning the rest of the way with only two starters. I am not bashing the team for not winning it all. I think they had a great year and just came up short in Omaha. The only shot they had was to win the first two when they didn't their flaws were exposed.

It's baseball, the best teams don't always win.

We weren't winning it starting just two guys regardless. I realize that we didn't have a reliable 3, but trotting Person out there like that was absolutely rediculous. And the management of that whole game was a dumpster fire.

Fun fact
Just because we're LSU doesn't automatically make us more talented than the other teams

This isn't the 90's anymore and more than 6 teams in the country put effort into baseball these days is another fact they just can't understand. Before the accepting mediocrity comments come in I am upset every year when LSU doesn't win a national championship in any sport, but that does not mean that I can't look back almost a year later and understand why said team didn't win the national championship.

I enjoy LSU baseball and football. During the games, I get upset if we are behind, loose, and/or just play poorly or stupidity. I don't hold onto it for very long. My life doesn't revolve around LSU sports, although I enjoy them. I'm one of those terrible fans that didn't attend LSU.

What baseball did in the 90's was just awesome, but people became much too spoiled by it.

I didn't go to LSU either but I want them to succeed in everything and the school to be great. Being from the area I understand economically what LSU sports does for the city of BR businesses. I'm like you during the games I am 100 percent emotionally invested but after I brush off a win or a loss and go about my day.

Appreciate it. Sometimes I try and give this site up when I get tired of the negativity but I usually end up coming back because I don't have self control and love arguing. What is a better place to argue as a positive person than this site?

I've done that a couple of times myself, sometimes for months at a time. I know several posters who are friends of mine who have told me they've quit reading TigerDroppings altogether because of it. And they used to make really interesting, informational contributions to baseball threads.

Thankfully the little bitches who populate this site are not really representative of Tiger fans who actually attend games and support the players and coaches. On here, you'd swear that every LSU player and coach is incompetent.

It used to not be this bad, say, three years ago or so. Whenever a poster would call a player or coach "garbage" or worse, the post would be either whacked or marked unreadable within minutes. TigerFred was the best at doing that with ByteMe not far behind. Rummy used to give the cry babies a short leash also.

Unfortunately, it appears either that the admins got tired of doing that, got orders to stop it or the admins don't read as many threads as they used to read.
