Lange has to go 7 strong to even worry about the rest of the rotation going forward.

A complete game win would be ideal but 7 strong is mandatory. You hope to be up by 4 or more going to the 8th and piece together a combo of Newman and Hess to close it out.

Worry about the first one first. We know Lange has the potential to go a whole game if he commands the strike zone. If we can win with Lange going most of the way and use only Newman, Hess could very well start the 2nd game against OSU and then watch Gilbert, Newman, and potentially a quick relief effort from Poche (matchup or come in to help get out of an inning).
Hess has been money in that closer role, but he can also give you 4 or 5 pretty dominant innings. You don't get that out of Gilbert or Newman.
I don't really care how it goes down, as long as we win those 2 games.

You can't let Newman hang his head on that one outing. He needs to trot back out in a better situation and gain his confidence back. He has been really important to this team all year.
