What is it going to take for the Lady Tigers to get back to one of the elite teams and back to the final four? Program seems to be stalled.

We can start with a PG and true center.

Our recruiting class has both of those. if he doesn't win 27+ games next season, I say can him. We ought to be really, really good next season

We went three years with basically no recruiting classes and then graduated 9 seniors. You can't have a team full of freshman and sophmores winning 30 games. In 2 years if they still are .500 in the sec, then change is needed.

Are you the one who though Pokie Chapman was a great coach?

In women's basketball, it's truly a case of the haves and have nots. Every year there seems to be only five to six great teams, a handfull of good teams and the rest are playing catchup. Those great teams always seem to have a very dominant post player and some sort of talented guard small forward who carries the team. Since Simone and S. Fowles left, we haven't seemed to have either. (Hightower is good, but not at that elite level)

On the contrary, this season Hightower IS at that elite level. But, she's playing with a team full of sophomores and freshmen. Next season they'll be a lot more seasoned team and they have a very good recruting class coming in. It takes time to rebuild the team when you graduate nine seniors off of a team. If this team makes it to the sweet sixteen this season, that will be good enough progress. Next season they should be back to elite eight / final four level play. In the meantime, keep supporting them because they are improving here lately. 18-8 is still not a bad record

I must admit, I haven't paid that much attention this year. Glad to hear she stepped it up though. She's had the potential, but never seemed to be that elite player.

Will they be that good? Like I said, I haven't followed them as closely this year, but I didn't think they were quite that good.

Thanks for the update though.

Relax. Better talent is on the way in next season. VC is a proven winner. When given the proper level of talent he can coach 'em up.

Again, everyone needs to realize in the past two seasons this is a team that has been made up of mostly freshmen and then sophomores. Hightower is the only senior on the team................and she's the best player in the SEC. They do have two 6'5" post players coming in this next class so post help is on the way. The guard play right now is actually a strong point for this team and will only get better as the season progresses.

They lack an elite level point guard and true post presence. They'll be about the same next year but will be a better outside shooting team with Kenney and Plaisance coming in. Program's two years away from Top 10 status or Barrett's senior year.

I TOTALLY disagree.

They'll be a top ten team next season. Honestly, they're not far away from being a top ten team THIS season. Unfortunately because of their youth, they've suffered a bunch of close losses. Next season that won't be the case. At this point next season they'll probably be 22-4 as opposed to 18-8...............................and that will easily be in the top ten. Hughes can be an elite level pg as well as Booze next season. Kenney will help but, she has NO CHANCE of supplanting either of them. I'm hoping that McKinney will give them a boost in the post. I really don't expect Plaisance to give them a lot of help in the paint next season. She's probably not gonna be strong enough, plus she's got a very good face up game.

You think Eason or Hughes or anywhere near the class when LSU had Temeka Johnson or Erica White in running the team? They are easily the team's biggest liability and before her injury Booze was running third team. The current kids are serviceable point guards but not at the level LSU was used to when they were reaching the Final Four. Chancellor's never been one to publically throw any of his players under the bus but privately the position has been a sore subject for him.

As a sophomore who got the starting job MIDWAY through the season, no..............I do not think that Hughes is CURRENTLY an elite level point guard. However, I DO believe that she can BECOME an elite level point guard in time. She's certainly not gonna be supplanted by Kenney. Booze was running third team only because of her being a new transfer. It was clear to everyone who watched the team play that she was actually the most polished of the three. If she'd not gone down in the seventh game of the season, it wouldn't have been a surprise to see her in the starting lineup as opposed to Hughes by now.

By the way, Erica White wasn't an elite level point guard until her junior year. Her sophomore year, although good (she averaged 5 pts but also 5 ast per game), was very inconsistent.

Come hell or high water, they are going to find a way to get Kenney into the game next year. She is that lights-out shooter they have needed for seemingly forever. The vision I have is that Kenney will be 2-guard and back up point guard and that Graham will move to 3-guard, which is being vacated by Hightower.
