As bad as we have looked, we have one loss but LSU hasn't played anybody.

This isn't true. We've played an OK Ms. State team, and they annihilated us.

What's puzzling is how good they looked in the byu game and how they have seemingly regressed. I get byu didn't have a very good offense but even still there were no busted assignments no stupid penalties sound tackling and the speed and aggressiveness looked great. But since that game all of those things have gone south. Perhaps all the suspended folks from that game need to find their way back to the bench.

Are you seriously crowing about only having one loss after playing BYU, Chattanooga, State, and Syracuse lol?

Let's see . Sci Martin, Andre Anthony, Frank Herron, Lawrence and Big Ed have missed all or some of the games. And Key who is still trying to get in football shape. Add Ed Paris and 2 other players suspended for the second half of one game and the first half of another. Yea Aranda, has let us down. Right? Wrong! How many games have the Tiger D been at full strength? 0 Add it up.

Can't see us winning any SEC games this year. Next year we will be substantially better - but this year, 4-8.

6 of our DTs weren't playing vs MSU for one reason or another. Who can over come that? Warren Sap and would have been worn out. We had 4 DTs active playing 3 spots. The defense is fine.

For argument's sake, let's say that the only issue with the defense is the defensive line...how on earth can you lay out everything that's plagued the defensive line the this season and come to the conclusion that the defense is fine?

The d line is going to be razor thin all year. Lawrence has two gimpy ankles so I'm sure he's going to be in and out of the lineup all year. Ed Alexander has a broken hand. We have no idea what kind of shape Herron's going to be in when he returns for Auburn. And other injuries are probably going to crop up here and there.

It's not a surprise in terms of the suspensions/injuries sustained. Donnie Alexander is basically an afterthought. Ed Alexander banged up. Herron suspended. Lawrence banged up. Toliver suspended and seemingly doesnt give a hoot anymore. Paris done for the year. Key injured and slow.

List goes on and on.

All the years Miles coached at LSU there was never this excuse, never an excuse for Saban either at Alabama. How can that be? Is this just a strange year?

It is true that Alabama does not have a single freshman starter on offense or defense.

We are not strong at the point of attack and our linebackers are young. This should come as no surprise to anyone.

I'm honestly struggling to understand anyone who felt like this team was going to win 10 games. If they do, it will be a monumental achievement.

but 100 percent of the fan base had zero doubts about Aranda and LSU's 2017 Defense before the State game. Defense remains a shock,

biggest shock of all no doubt.

Add a healthy Rashard Lawrence, Ed Alexander and a non suspended Frank Herron and our DL looks pretty good. That's what we're lacking.

I thought we played way too conservative against MSU. I would have expected more aggression...more guys up at line of scrimmage...more run blitzes. Sitting back and reacting was the worst strategy against MSU and Fitzgerald. He never felt uncomfortable

Bingo 100%

DL was the biggest issue against MSU by far. We got down to FOUR linemen in the 2nd half playing 3 spots.

The coaches made a huge mistake to only bring 6 healthy defensive linemen to MSU (they brought Lawrence over Thomas). 2 of them were gone by the 2nd half.

That #4 lineman was Clark who has never contributed anything to the defense, too. #3 being Logan who has looked pedestrian at best in his lots of playing time recently as well.

Absolutely. Hope I'm wrong but Logan looks like a big miss.

3 and out's will magnify the youth of our defense. I think if we get the offense to get multiple 1st downs it will make the defense shine. Believe me the DC didn't forget how to coach overnight. Injuries also play a role in the D. My season prediction has changed but I don't think this team is as bad as it seems.. I think this team will start to improve drastically Saturday Night!

Probably one of the best observations, LSU never pressed the State receivers and never applied pressure with run blitzes. Just sat back and let State do its thing. I can understand maybe a quarter or a half but the whole damn game not pressing?

Well, we saw a steady decline with Miles, so he isn't excused. So, I'm down with giving O some time. We've been a four-loss team so whatever.
