Can't understand the early departures. It seems like these kids just want to take a shortcut and collect a check. I really wish someone would sit these guys down and explain to them that taking shortcuts in life usually does not work out. The pitch should be easy: come back and be a leader for your senior year, put in the work and then get paid.

The only decision to be made is if your a 1st round pick. If your projected a second round guy as a junior, then come back and improve your stock and become some teams 1st round guy. If your not Odell beck ham good or something of that caliber then stay in school and get better. Another factor to consider is the vested interest the NFL teams put in high round draft choices. Teams will go out of their way to let a 1st round guy prove themselves. If you need a year or two to adjust then you will get that chance as a first round pick. On the other hand if your an UDFA you better be ready to play because your not going to get many chances. Take Patrick Robinson for the saints. If he was a 7th round guy instead of being a #1 pick he would have been cut long ago. Why wouldn't these players come back and give themselves the best possible chance. I know the answer is these guys can make good money but just how much are they really taking home after agent fees and taxes? For a fringe player like Kwon it's not going to be very much. Someone should remind kwon that the league minimum money isn't going anywhere and that assuming he makes a roster. Last I checked there aren't many NFL linebackers at 225 pounds. Dude better learn some coverage skills because strong safety is really the only position he has a chance at

All that said I do wish him luck because he will definitely need it

Again, coming back doesn't always benefit everyone. He is probably at his peak draft position being gauged as a 4-7th round pick. With another year of school he could get hurt and go undrafted, or he will be projectex in the exact same area.

Coming back helps the program not always the player

For every player you can name who came back and improved, I'm sure I can come back with one who stayed and it hurt.

I watched Kwon, Hunter, Collins, and Mills closely during the ND game and I do not see how they would not benefit tremendously from one more year. Hey but to each his own. Best of luck to whoever leaves. I understand the whole provide for your family thing but one more year of poverty is worth a chance at improving draft stock and solidifying a more reliable income. These kids have got to start looking more long term get your degree improve your skills on and off the field.

I don't think any of this yrs juniors stick with an NFL more than two yrs. no way they get a big money second contract. The NFL has it figured out now. Cut them loose after shitty first contract ,more just like them coming out in next draft. Process with a capital P...

Jamal is the only player on that defense that might be NFL ready. Kwon probably won't make an active roster next year. He can't play 3-4 defense so that eliminates nearly half the league right there. He's a project. Most of them are too small to compete against the top half of the SEC, so no way they can do it against NFL players.

Kwon can't get any bigger. IMO, it wouldn't matter if he stayed or went, his draft grade would pretty much be the same.

Hunter has a chance to increase his grade, and if we get Pendergast, he will switch to an OLB, which would increase his value. At 6'6 245 and running in the 4.6 range, all he'll need is the stats next year to be a first round pick.

Mills doesn't have the athletic ability to improve his stock more. Maybe he learns better technique, but that's about all he'd get out of next year.

Collins is 6'2 and has good speed. If he came back he might improve enough to be a top 3 round pick. But what if he gets beat out by Toliver, Paris, or if Robinson comes back? He'd be risking a lot coming back, but I could see him as a fifth round pick ala Simon. I'd say 3rd-5th round regardless of what he does.

Vadal could make a case for 1st or 2nd round if he comes back and Hawkins could really skyrocket from a possible 5th round to 1st round if he moves to LT and performs well.

Playing for those two years is better than never playing at all. These guys will make about $2.5 mil, minimum, over those two years. That's probably more than you will make in your life.

Undrafted salaries are still 6 figures, so even if he only plays 2 years he makes more than many posters will in 6 years at their jobs.

These posts honestly need to stop

We are gojng to have the most juniors leave almost if not every year so just get used to it. As a fan we are pissed because it sets us back and makes it alot more difficult for us to play for a championship

Our university is becoming a double edged sword

I don't blame them for leaving . When you're playing for dumb arse coach you would leave also .They have to look out for their interest and their families ..Good luck to him ..

Chavis leaving was the tipping point for them. Why come back? Improve your game? That's not a certainty when you don't know who the DC is or what scheme he will run. I think if Chavis had stayed we had a chance a couple of them would have stayed but not now. I really can't blame them. The AD and Chavis both screwed the football program and players.

What if that's Aleva's plan? Might think as long as Chavis is here he likely can't make a coaching change because Miles will win 9-10 games. Force Chavis out this late could really hurt next season, but could legitimize a decision to fire Miles after a 6-7 win season and low finish in West. Maybe Aleva's smarter than everyone thinks.

I don't blame Kwon one bit. He's not going to change his grade by coming back and he had a knee injury his senior year in high school that caused him to wonder if he would even get to play at a big time school. I wouldn't risk it either if I were him.

Coaches staff doing work. Props to the staff for coaching up all these underclassmen. Just shows you how lucky we as fans are for having such great coaches.
