Thought I would give you guys an update.

FG - Colby looks as good as ever and I really don't see any after problems from his accident. Culp looks better than he did last year. Last year he pushed the ball downfield but has evidently been working on mechanics. Jack, likewise looks well but right now, barring a total collapse...the Cajun kicker is your starter.

KO- In practice Gamble destroys the ball. As long as they do not try any stupid stuff (i.e. See if you can drop the ball at the 5 yard line on the left quarter of the field) no one should return a kick in is all year.

Have not really seen the punting situation but will try to get some eyes on it

That's what I am saying!! Let the man just boot it out every time if he can.

I have heard that Miles specifically wants to try to pin the opponents further back, but it's not worth the Gamble

How exactly do you know all of this?

He is. OP must be referring to Culp's high school tape.

Yes, but I followed his HS video and scouted him at a couple of camps

It's one thing to do this in scrimmage, but we need to do it in games. We can also never kick it out of bounds to Bama again

Clearly, I cannot say but I've never given an inaccurate report on our kickers. Just enjoy the report.

Fair enough.

What is Colby's range on FG? From what I have seen in warmups and games, 50 seems to be the back end of his range. If we need a 55 yard FG, would one of the other guys be called on to try it?

I've seen all of these guys make 55 and better. The question is % of likelihood. Colby has better accuracy of any of them, rarely sprays a ball left or right....if it came down to zero time on clock and a 55 FG to win... Right now Colby would likely kick it simply based on his charting %.

I can believe that.

I watched Gamble kick field goals in warmups before games last year and everyone in the lower level of the North endzone was at risk

I am all for kicking the ball out of the end zone and letting the other team start at the 25 yard line, if your kicker can do it.

That being said, there is NO reason why LSU, with its superior athletes, shouldn't be able to put a group of 11 players on the field who can cover kicks.

last year was awful. at least the first 8 games or so. worst I have witnessed in about 50 years. whatever the problem was, it was finally fixed late in the season.

I am optimistic our coverage will be much improved this year. BDP is not near as bad a ST coach as this board depicts him to be. and one thing about many on this board; they will NEVER change their minds. we could have the best coverage down field in the SEC and all that will be said is how shitty the coach is.
