If that's your only criteria, then perhaps.

He's probably been a top 5 mid-major coach over the past 6 years.

If we're going to compare him to his peers, many of whom have only been head coaches for <5 years, then use a similar metric.

Mike White made ZERO NCAA tournaments in 4 years at La. Tech. He's made 1 NCAA in 6 years total as a head coach. But when you're in a one-bid league, that's not always the best way to measure a coach.

Hopefully, Alleva is just waiting to offer Prohm a deal not Davis. I really like how Missouri and NC State identified their guy, offered him and got him. I had hoped Buzz Williams was a possibility but no rumor on him.

Prohm's buyout is 50% of whats left on his deal, which equates to roughly 2.3 mill right now. No way Joe is swinging that.

I agree with you, though, Prohm would be an outstanding hire.

Buzz Williams would be a grand slam, so that's one reason why it won't happen.

This is what I've said all along. There wasn't even any point in firing Johnny Jones if Alleva was just going to go out and hire some other guy no one wants.

This thread is the exact mirror of the thread that popped up when Jones was being discussed. People that liked him found reasons to get behind a guy from a mid major program that no one cared about. Well, this is what happens when you get behind a guy like that.

You think people "getting behind someone" has an effect on who is hired? LOL

And people discussing qualifications, pros and cons, is what should be happening. Just because someone can see the good of a potential candidate doesn't mean they are behind them

"No AD at a real college has been stupid enough to hire him"

Can't much the same be said bout JA's recent LSU football hire?

JA's hires at LSU, overall, have been unimpressive to this point in time. I'm not going to pretend I know who we need, but Davis sure has a better coaching resume than either JJ or coach O.

I remain amazed that JA continues to be employed by LSU.

The sad truth is that the LSU job is not exactly "top tier" . Expecting a coach to leave a power program, and come to LSU & instantly produce is a reach. A big reach. If $ won't do it, you can expect a coach along the lines of Davis .

Did I say that? At all? No. I don't even know how you could possibly get that out of what I did say.

All I said was that there were people on this board justifying the hire Johnny Jones as a 'heralded' mid major coach when anyone with a brain knew it was a settle hire. And that's exactly what Davis would be....a settle hire. I don't see the point in even firing one to bring in the other. It seems like a waste of money.

Davis has been COY in three difference conferences, is 52-18 in the CUSA, and made it to the second round of the NCAA the last two years.

Comparing him to Jones is stupid whether you want him at LSU or not.

I don't even want Kermit, but I think the criticisms of him are ridiculous. His resume is demonstrably better than Mike White's was when Florida hired him. It's better than Keatts who just got hired at NC State. It's better than almost any other mid major coach.

Only if you disregard time. The guy has been coaching there forever, of course he will have some good seasons. If we can't attract an elite coach we want an up-and-coming coach, not another fricking Johnny Jones.

White has been a head coach for 6 years. Just compare the last 6 years.

That's a more than fair comparison.

3 NCAA tournaments vs 1.

Are you shitting me? Keats is a far better hire than Davis

So would Wade from VCU

You must be a booster that wants your greedy shitty hands on the program with a yes man as head coach

Would be interesting, VCU and LSU are participating in the Maui Invitational next fall.

Wade's buyout is $1Mil, and according to the Richmond newspaper the AD is already in talks for an extension. LSU was the the only named school in the article mentioned as a possible landing spot.

Do you have a reading comprehension problem? I already said I don't want Kermit. That doesn't mean I can't recognize his accomplishments.

And "better" is subjective. I can't stand Keatts' jack-up-threes offense.
