I have no doubt that LSU would have been a better team all year if Keith Hornsby would have been healthy and Simmons didn't play for LSU. I never liked Hornsby, not because he played for LSU, but because the dude would step up and hit a big shot whenever you needed him to. He'd stick the knife in the opponents side. He was a leader on the court. Guys like this are a lot more valuable to a program than one and dones.

Not sure why I felt like posting this, but respect to Keith

I agree with the overall sentiment above, but leadership and identity starts with the coach. Look through your bracket, and it's the same coaches you always see despite roster changes.

The tone is set from Day 1 and straying from the expectations set is unacceptable. That's where we are lacking.

I agree. there is NO SUBSTITUTE for leadership, loyalty and work ethic. and caring about the team.

a successful sports team is never about the one star player. maybe JJ handled it wrong and maybe he didn't. i'm fed up with the one and done shite.

ok, I've just agreed with an aggie.

Well you cant coach leadership, you either have it or you don't, and without him we didn't have it. Top to bottom.

Agree that Hornsby is a real leader. As I said in another thread, disagree that he would have been able to make a difference. No matter how good of a leader you are, you can't lead those that don't want to be led. It's not like the team didn't know they were dysfunctional. Keith was very vocal about it all season.

Keith Hornsby is one of my favorite LSU BBall tigers of all time. His level of leadership and competitiveness were unmatched on this team.

That loose ball against A&M where he just wanted the ball more than either A&M player, was the highlight of the season for me. He set an example in those 3 seconds as to how everyone on the team should play.

It's obvious why you came to post. To stir the clowns up. Because Hornsby has a high motor, coach on the floor, lunchbox, etc. The results would've have been much different. Hornsby is not Jordan. Maybe LSU loses by 20 instead of 33. Big deal. Hornsby is 4 or 5 years older than the other starters. He should bring something more to the huddle.

I actually don't feel this way about basketball like I do with football and baseball. I hate seeing another SEC team do well in football and baseball, but basketball...meh. I think its because the SEC is considered to be so shitty in basketball that I'm hoping all of the teams get better to enhance the league. Once we become a basketball powerhouse I'll wish bad things on them. Then again....we're so bad....so bad

I'm not talking about our game. I'm talking about the season as a whole.

Take the thread however you want to, but I posted it here and not the rant on purpose.

I am sad to see Keith graduate. The young man follows his dad's philosophy on hard work and never settling for average.

Thank you Keith for being an inspirational leader on this team. You will find a rewarding career outside of basketball because of your work ethic. God bless you !

He's as old/mature as most of your old arse team. He should be bringing that element to the team. Awesome.

You don't need to knock Simmons while making your point about Hornsby.

That's the foundation of my point though. You have the #1 overall NBA draft pick on your team, and Hornsby was more valuable to LSU, IMO.
