That is a very fair assessment. Time will tell. One thing for sure is this was A VERY EXPENSIVE YEAR so far for the College Programs. 12 days in and the money machine is already pouring out bills..lol. Deboer better love a challenge, because the 1st game lost will not sit well.

His success is a mirage…most of the players on his team were 5 and 6 year players…like 80%of his defensive starters
This is a bad hire and I am so happy….
agreed. He had Penix and those receivers so had 2 good years. Not long enough to justify getting the Bama gig.

This is a prime example of a school chasing the hot guy, even though he hasn’t had sustained success as a D1 head coach.

And his team played in the national championship game earlier this month?

Must be a horrible coach

This isn't a sure thing hire.

Nobody is. But CBK was at his house watching this guy play for a national championship. And it's laughable that him having veteran players is supposed to be a bad thing

He’s only been a head coach in the fbs for 4 years. 37-9 in the fbs. NAIA is a different animal. Let’s see what he can do year after year in the SEC.

There is no other Nick Saban out there to go get. I think that's a solid hire, but we'll see how he does. He's walking into a brutal conference in comparison.

The bridge coach. He’s the buffer gamble while they try to land a bigger fish in a couple years.

They don’t really expect him to sustain the level the program is on right now. He’s a throwaway coach.

I think it's a huge risk. He has an impressive overall record, but he's only been a D1 HC for four years. Most of his wins are from when he was at an NAIA school.

I'm a little surprised because he's never coached or recruited in the South. He may end up being a great coach, but he's got a lot to prove!

Did any of them win national championships? Which one do you think is better than DeBoer?

Smart move on him. Washington was never going to get back since most of the players are graduating and then moving to the Big Ten. So he takes more money and goes to an established program with ridiculous talent.

He'll at least have two to three years in the SEC before they figure out what kind of coach he is

The second Oregon game, vs Texas, and the Natty. Offensive pass play design and the way their defense disguised coverages and baited QB’s was what we all want our defense to do…
