He also said LSU didn't "settle" when O was hired.

A bunch could have used another year. If your contract will jump significantly by staying one more year, then it is worth it.

Slipping into the 1st round is financially night and day more lucrative than being a 5th rounder.

No, so i guess that would be the risk they take if they want to win it bad enough.

I sincerely hope neither of them come back for their sake. I've been tweeting at Derrius almost every day telling him he would be stupid to risk his career by coming back for another year

I'm gonna say 32% on Key and 44% on Guice. Take that, Justin.

but it has to be a tough spot for a coach.

Not really, the best coaches see their athletes almost like mentor/protégé. They want what's best for the kid.

It’s a different type of recruiting....trying to keep players. I always thought Miles was very good at helping players make this decision.

Maybe O is really selling them on staying instead of pushing them to leave.

Miles was too good a guy to do that effectively. In fact he often advised his guys to go pro cause it was in their best interest. It hurt us in the long run. O seems like enough of a scumbag to help us with these guys.

I’m not an O fan, but it has to be a tough spot for a coach. He’s paid to win and obviously Key and Guice would make next years team significantly better, so obviously any coach would want the back. But, if he really is a players coach with their best interests at heart, he really HAS to tell them to leave. Their is no reason to stay and risk injury. And don’t give this BS about completing their education. If they want to do it, they can as moneubearnkng NFL players. Tons of pro athletes have gotten degrees after turning pro.

I don't think any coach will straight up tell a player that's a projected first rounder to come back. If he's a players coach, then he lays out the options with pros and cons and lets the player make a decision. He can try and sell him that returning would be the smarter decision but he isn't going to straight tell him to stay
