John Battle should not be playing SS. Eric Monroe can't be any worse. Battle was horrible. Missed an opportunity to make an easy interception, had a PI call, and numerous missed assignments.

Defense was my biggest takeaway from the game. IDK if lack of competent recruiting is hurting us or what.

I expect offense to take a year or two... defense shouldve kept us in that game.

I totally get the lack of bodies on the DL but the play of the secondary was turrible. Battle and KT2 should be on the bench.

The defense was rife with missed tackles, among other problems

Yeah our inability to tackle from the secondary was atrocious. It's something Aranda was counting on I think. Adams, White, and Thomas were excellent at that last year. He schemed a lot of this game for our free guy to be in the secondary, and they failed miserably. Missed tackles, bad angles.

Getting Lawrence and Alexander back, and Key in shape, will help a lot. But we shouldn't rely that much on a few players

Simply put, the defense was in react mode, not attack mode. We let the MSU blockers come to us instead of taking it to them. Not a good trend to start.
