Bregman sure was out of his element. Was strange.

there were only 8 regionals 6 teams 48 total. the 16 started with the new format when the regionals began inviting 64 teams.

The new bats/ball park combo is just as bad as what the bats in the 90s did but this time in the pitchers favor.

This is probably true.

College Baseball used to be ridiculous. Slap-dick HR Derby. It might look fun but it becomes just as boring and tiresome unless you're 12 years old and easily impressed and live to watch basketball dunk highlights on ESPN.

They need to find a good balance...wish the sport had money for everyone to use wood bats.

But there's always going to be controversy with tinkering with the metal bats and the ball.

I have always wondered why rules are so different across the sports landscape. Wouldn't the sports product be better if everyone had the same rules and equipment starting in pee-wee or at least in high school? Two feet in bounds with a reception, you must be tackled or you can still run...this kind of stuff.

Why not use wood bats and the same balls as MLB from day one? Are they really that expensive or is there another reason? Not trying to steal the thread, just curious.

If I have a gripe for today's game, it would be not being more aggressive on the base paths. The freshman had a high leg and slow delivery.

Not to mention the Catcher had only thrown out 2/16 runners attempting to steal. Should have been moving every time we had a runner on 1st.

wood bats are way too heavy for pee wee ball.

Bregman could come out next year and have a sophomore slump. I have seen this many times. He could end up being like Rymes who was a great regular season hitter but disappeared every post season.

Yes yes I was more referring to the rules but I deserve that. Never played...love to watch.

Oh, I forgot about that too. He was a sub catcher. The regular guy was out.

Yeah, they only difference in the wood bats and the BBCOR bats is the drop weights. meaning, the BBCOR bat will perform the exact same on bat-to-ball contact as the wood, but they're easier to handle, and they can likely get a little more speed on the bat than the woods which are heavier

They break obviously.

Cost. Replacement cost.

We had a great team in 01 and lost to Tulane in the supers.

That team was far from great. It was a team of JUCO mercenaries and Lane Mestepey. Their pitching was so thin, didn't Mestepey go about about 11 innings in Game 1? I think half the team was run off when Smoke took over.

I don't think that's it at all. Pretty sure it's the drop weight difference. College players just can't quite swing the wood like pros, less bat speed.

Also, I've a seen a girl I went to high school with crack a composite bat first game she used it. Jammed one up and it fricking cracked down the barrel. She still hit it out.
