He says he wants to start, that he is the leader of this team, and has been for the last three years. He also commented on how tough it's been on him these last few months.

That was followed by Les Miles confirming that he will see some time, but "first and foremost", we will see Lee.

edit:
Full interview transcript paints different picture than ESPN

Was this a new interview by ESPN, or were these just quotes/clips from the interview after practice yesterday?

How anyone can think that this is not a distraction is beyond me.

It's really a shame. Lee and JJ have a unique chance to go out a whole lot better than how they came in. However this kind of talk by JJ could lead to a total team implosion.

of course he wants to start - I bet if you asked Rivers he'd say the same thing. If a player on LSU's roster doesn't want to start then I don't want them on this team.

I swear some of you just try to stir shite up and twist words around every chance you get.

It was on ESPN just now, live. I had never seen it before.

It was a pretty big segment, with Reese Davis and Herbstreit discussing it. Davis said other players look to Jefferson as the leader, if not the starter. I don't know where he got that information.

Chances are it was just video from yesterday. If you watch the entire video he came across very well.

Ever since, he has been spewing this shite about the team saying JJ is the leader

How did you like the statement "I have won" this many games as a qb at lsu...not "we" or "lsu" or anything like that...."HE" has won the games.

What also scares me is that he says he "will do anything to get that job back"......

makes you wonder.....boycott....division....tonya harding?

I agree it is natural for him to want to start. But in regards to national t.v., wouldn't a leader be more inclined to talk about doing what needs to be done in order to best help his team? I'm wondering what is going through his head that makes him thinks it is wise to air his issues out like that.

I'd rather him show he wants to start by busting his arse any way he can.

A leader would do whats best for the Team and running his mouth like he did yesterday isnt what a leader does. Maybe some players look at him as a leader, but he has no idea what a "leader is". I didnt see the ESPN comments but ahgain it sounds like he just keeps running that mouth. How about STFU and go out and do whats best for the Team?
