While i agree 100%, i bet one of those kids complains about the chief. And when he questions what does the kid know, the kid will give him the,”....i dominate Madden!” Response.

Chavis was Arkansas’ defensive coordinator the last two seasons, including a 2019 campaign in which it allowed the most points (36.8) and yards (450.7) per game in school history.

Chavis was not good at Ark but was good at Tenn and LSU. His defenses at LSU were what kept LSU respectable.

I thought this article was a throwback to when he took the Arkansas job.

Chavis is one of those coaches that can take elite talent and really do something with it. Give him mediocre talent and he is awful. Like maybe coaching guys up isnt really his strong suit?

His stop at Arkansas was pretty much as bad as it gets. I realize he had slim pickings with talent but my god it was almost as if everyone was clueless on the field. I assume he just gave up.

Amazing how many idiots on here think Chavis was not a great coach. That guy was THE ONLY man in college football who fielded a defense that could stop any offense - spread, power, it didn’t matter.

Chavis has made millions by simply being in the coaching fraternity

This.

3rd and Chavis was real (and damned frustrating). However, he had a top 20 defense the vast majority of his time at Tennessee and LSU. The two big moments where his defense was exposed (Alabama and Clemson), his “All World” safety was on the bench with issues (back spasms IIRC). Chavis may have fricked things up anyway, but not having Eric Reid on the field couldn’t have helped matters.

My main issues were his lack of recruiting and the way in which he left. frick that guy for being a major douche bag.

Simply put, if he was any good, he would still be coaching. The talent he had at LSU was simply amazing and he started DJ Welter, Case closed, move on!

That's stupid! If Julius Caeser was a decent general he'd still be conquering? If Urban Meyer was any good would he still be coaching?

He could easily find another college gig. But now he can retire in Knoxville and see his kids/grandkids every day and go out for wings with big Jim Chaney if he wants to.

That nails it. He is screwing Arkansas. His contract says he has to look for a job and Arkansas is responsible for the difference in what he makes vs. what he was making there. So he goes out and gets a low pay job and Arky has to cough up the difference in pay for the next year and a half.
