I don't think there's much of a point in arguing with people like you who seem to take the stance that coaches are infallible.

I've never taken that stance...ever. CLEARLY coaches, like everyone else, CAN be wrong. But do you not find it odd that EVERY fan base of EVERY organized sports team has a contingent of fans that feel their coach is wrong about any host of things? Are they all correct and their coach is wrong?

Lee has basically ended the debate of who the better qb is already.

I've stated that Lee has looked solid this year. I'm VERY happy about that, because unlike some I pull for the name on the side of the helmet and not the name on the back of the jersey...so Lee playing well means a greater chance of LSU succeeding. But this notion that because Lee has played well this years automatically means that he would have/could have played this well last year under the cluster frick of an offensive scheme we were still trying to run last year has no basis in fact, just wishful thinking and revisionism.

JJ never deserved to be the unquestioned starter

Again, in your opinion. It may very well have been based on how shitty things were on offense last year that JJ posed the best possible chance of making it work on a game by game basis. I only know what I know from a fan's perspective, and as such I know enough to know I can't make that call from my seats in Tiger Stadium. If only others had that same humility...

quote:

Show me one other place where a qb can play as poorly as JJ and be able to return the next season as the #1 guy no questions asked

Much like JJ, to the staff Lee was ALSO a known commodity. for whatever reason, they have felt that JJ gave the team the best shot to win. While I thought it was probably a wash in most areas, I tended to agree. For peple to continually suggest that there was NO QUESTION that Lee, based on what we had seen from his play over the same time frame, was CLEARLY the better option is simply bullshite. If you'd want to argue that as bad as JJ played then it was worth a shot to try Lee and see how it went, then fine. I am and was on board with that. But this bullshite about how Lee has always been better is nonsense.

None of that addresses the OP's post though. Based on the FACT that Miles and co. have felt JJ gave LSU the best shot at winning games, I'm going to assume that if/when JJ is reinstated he will be worked back into the lineup at practice. He's missed far too much time, and Lee has played too well to pull him. But...my guess is JJ will be put into a position to play his way back into that role if he can.

The question, if he does and Miles plays him in that capacity, will you and others support that or will you turn on him and the program?

I have learned that the word "fair" is used by those who can not earn and look for a way to be awarded something. JLee sat behind JJ and worked hard, kept a positive attitude and proved he is mentally tough. Adding to that he is a better passer and manager of the game than JJ. Period. End of story and Les Miles knows this too. If JJ returns he will use him in particular situations and will only start if JLee is hurt or having a horrible game. Keep in mind having two capable QBs is better than having one and that is in the best interest of LSU Football.

Gerry Boy has a short and selective memory.

While at LSU, he had a stated team policy that "No starter will ever lose his position due to injury", but when starter Abram Booty went down, he put freshman Jerel Meyers in at Flanker and left him there after AB came back. He moved Booty to WR, which rightly so pissed him off and he was never quite the same again.

How fair was that Gerry?

BTW, this single incident was also the original incident that kick started the whole Booty-Evangel-LSU hate thing.

If I remember correctly Dinardo and Miles are very close, Dinardo was in Miles' wedding.

No you don't.

But that's probably one of the many reasons Dinardo is an analyst and Les Miles is coaching LSU.

Did Les write this for you? (I'm referring to the syntax)

Well, now that Gerry "Boy Can I Mess Up A Football Program" DiNardo said that, it must be the best thing to do.

I promise you this: If Miles put JJ in, without an injury to Lee, and we lose, Miles would need 24 hour a day protection from the lynch mob that would be looking for him. Miles is crazy...he's not stupid!

Lou Tepper agrees with this. Gerry was more than fair with him.

It is probbly the fair thing to do in regards to JJ. It probably isn't the fair thing to do in regards to the team.

I supported JJ, but he sits unless an injury occurs. He may be able to be used in certain situational packages, but that is the extent at this point. The only other option is to red-shirt and return next year. I doubt he would transfer nor would Miles be supporting that option if the charges are dropped. Miles will want to do the right thing which is to allow him to re-join the team.

JL never seemed to get this last year even after he bailed us out of a couple of games and JJ was sucking eggs.

And Bill Belichik should have put Drew Bledsoe back in for Tom Brady during the 2001 season when Bledsoe got healthy.....
