Either House gets it together or leaves for a different job

Leonhard is a senior analyst for Illinois this season

what has he done to deserve getting paid?

he’s been a DC at one big 10 school that had a team bad enough to fire their entire coaching staff. spent a couple months as the interim coach and then became an analyst at an even shittier big 10 school. you don’t think we could just poach somebody with a better resume than that?

In Leonhard's five seasons as defensive coordinator, UW has ranked among the nation's top five in total defense and top 10 in scoring defense four times. During that time, the Badgers rank third in scoring defense (17.3 points per game), first in total yards allowed (284.8 yards per game), first in pass efficiency defense (110.5), third in rushing defense (103.4 ypg) and first in opponents' third down conversions (30.5%). Wisconsin has forced 112 turnovers over that span, tied for fourth-most among Power Five Conference teams.

Geez. Really bad choice. House has more skins on the wall for certain. And although Arky had themselves a day, our defense (and the crowd at Tiger Stadium) made them struggle to get everything they got. There was some hitting going on during that game. In the end we controlled the last 5 minutes and won the game. All the Arky offense could do was watch. Pretty good defense there.

Throwing 40+ yard TD bombs to WIDE OPEN WRs isn’t exactly the “Struggle” you seem to believe it to be.

No Def coord can take DB’s from FCS schools and make them compete at the highest college level. There’s a reason they were at an FCS school in the first place. The issue in the secondary is talent not scheme.

Just rehire Aranda at the end of this year when he gets canned at Baylor?

I can’t tell if this is sarcasm or not.

Are you really not familiar with how good he is?

If Leonhard is an option, you do whatever it takes to get him.

Jim Leonhard has higher aspirations than another college DC job. He could have had any number of them last year.

I think he’s probably going back to the NFL

Pay Aranda once Baylor lets him go. The guy and his family loved Baton Rouge. He can flat out scheme and get the best out of his players. He certainly didn't have respect for the Shrimp Boat Captain, but I don't (at all) view that as a character flaw. Pay HIM.

I guess you didn’t see that play. KJ again broken out of the pocket and was rolling to his right and had tucked the ball. The DB left his man to try stop him from making the first down AND getting loose in the open field. It turn out to be the wrong choice because KJ wasn’t past the line of scrimmage yet. The issue all night was containing KJ. He broke tackles and he throws, maybe best, when he’s on the run. It was a hard fought game. And Arky had to fight way harder to move the ball than we did. We won’t see a QB with his experience and skills again this year unless Auburn makes a change.
