I'm not sure he has a redshirt year. His high school class graduated a year ago.

I've heard from people who watched him in HS and they all said he is the real deal

I think he will be like Hilliard and start at some time playing FB then work his way into rotation.

That's impossible. The rant has already said that he is the best back we have, so why would we put him at FB. He will be our starting RB by 3rd quarter of North Texas, the rest will be forced to transfer after fall semester due to lack of playing time, and Hill will get drafted two spots before Mingo and Montgomery all after getting his number retired in the spring.

play the best guys.

Its not like there wont be any games where we would love to have two options in the backfield both of whom can move the line.

The challenge is to evaluate what he can do. The coaches have that task. They are not going to hold him back. Guys can leave when they are redshirt sophomores. So... if he is all that great, he's not going to be around more than 3 years, so let him get his carries, if he is better than other players.

I think Hill and Magee are going to get redshirted.

We'll go with Ware, Ford, Blue, and Hilliard at tailback and Copeland/Hilliard at fullback. We'll probably see Connor Neighbors play some at FB too.

I just think burning another year for Magee especially for 20 carries or less on the season isn't smart. It's extremely possible Ware, Ford, and Blue leave after this season, though I think only Ware is sure to go.

Magee might redshirt, but there is zero chance Hill does sans injury.

bullshite. Unless he proves that he's an absolute retard when it comes to learning the defense, he will see the field. He's too athletic not to.

I don't really care for red shirting RBs bc so many can be rotated to keep fresh legs, they're all good, and it's not a position that requires as much time for a good recruit to contribute. Plus lsu gets so many good RBs.

There is no point in red shirting him. If he is the real deal he will be gone to the nfl when eligible. Might as well get three years out of him even if the first is very little. Running backs need to get out of college as quick as they can and they all know it. That is why they have all bought into the running back by committee.

Is this what you're talking about? The quality is pretty awful, but you get the idea just how good he can be.

You do realize this was against probably the 4th string defense? That run was against walk ons.

Still, J Hill is a stud.

Realistically how much playing time do you see him getting with him being behind Ware, Ford, Hilliard, Blue, and Magee?

I do not see him behind Magee. Last year nobody thought Hilliard would get as many carries as he did. Miles has stated he is not red-shirting. He will get some chances - if he pays well on them he will play more.

One thing that is intriguing this year is the possibility of putting Hilliard and Hill in the same backfield. Miles loves him some big backs...

I responded to this last week but after yesterdays scrimmage the picture may get a little clearer although there is still plenty of time betwen now and first game.

Most of the Rantards have been saying Hill is the sixth back and should redshirt. He was the leading rusher in yesterday's scrimmage and it was not even close for second. I could tell in the Spring game he was getting a lot of work. I read this in the scrimmage report on the TD home page for those naysayers out there.

I haven't followed their camp very much at all, but it does sound like he's got a ways to go to pick up scheme...however, they've lost some guys in the d-backfield as well. Unless he's nicked I doubt he'll redshirt.

The kid should play. I think he has the best homerun/power combo on the team. The thing is, can he hold onto the rock. I think Miles works him in on some of the weaker teams, in the second half of the games, once they are in hand. If he can prove the ball security issues are sound, I think you'll quite a bit of him later in the year...

Doesn't matter. LC will be on the sidelines watching the game. Hit him there!

There's absolutely no way Hill redshirts. From what I'm hearing, he'll see solid playing time (which surprised me). It sounds like Hill is going to surprise some folks....we'll see.

according to Les`s philosophy Ware will see majority of carries,I see Ware working hard at practice, not the most talented we have but Les loves his srs.Let the controversy begin
