Was JR that bad or was it the system and just playing for OAK?

That's the $29 million question.

Like most other things, though, it's probably a combination of the two. He didn't help himself, and his coaches/supporting casts didn't help him out either.

The offensive system had nothing to do with Russell's performance. While his numbers were wretched with the Raiders, their play-calling, coaching staff, etc wasn't the real problem.

What made JR so awful was his attitude and approach towards being a professional.

I'm pretty sure Oakland didn't encourage Russell to show up every year for camp 40 lbs overweight, alienate his teammates, blow off meetings or strut around like he didn't give a damn.

His work ethic destroyed his career- not a particular coaching scheme.

Some of you are in serious denial...

It is ONLY about JR. Read a little. His own teammates though he was pitiful.

JR is that bad.

How is Gradkowski better than JR? Oh, oh, based on Rant logic it's the combination.

No offensive line, No receivers, could not read defense and could not stay in shape. Weight problem is mental

I am from Mobile, we see him during the off season at the "maysville wing shack" all the time. Not sure i guess he could have been ordering salads
