It’s time to accept that we need to play both QBs

It’s never ideal to be in a situation where you have to rotate QBs, but I think we are there now. This is especially true if Daniels is slowed any by his bruised knee next week. That would make the UT game the ideal time to pull the trigger on this.

I said before the season I expected to have multiple starting QBs and thought we would see some rotation at some point. I was hoping that Daniels might prove me wrong after the State and NM games, but last night really drove home the fact that neither of our QBs look like they will be consistent enough to lead this offense on their own. Some of you are so personally invested in one guy or the other and can’t accept the fact they neither of them may be a consistent answer.

They’ve both shown flashes, like Daniels in the 4th quarter vs FSU and last week, and Nuss last week when he replaced Daniels. But they have also both looked like they don’t belong in the SEC at times, like Daniels last night and Nuss vs Southern. If Howard isn’t going to be an option this season, then at least get the most out of what you have to get this offense on track.

If neither Daniels or Nuss can be consistent if they aren’t locked into a groove, then rotate them through first halves to try and take advantage of their strengths. See who’s playing the best in that game and ride hot hand down the stretch. At least if the staff commits to this now, both of our QBs will be fully prepped and ready for the gameplan each week and both will have equal first team reps in practice and go into every game expecting to share the snaps.

If Nuss had to play even 1 more quarter we would have lost by 10+

Doesn't help both QBs are obviously handcuffed by a shite OC who refuses to adjust to strengths. You see things like in the game last night he started running more with Daniels feet then you ask yourself why the hell did he wait until the 4th to use Boutte on a run play? Then ask what is he thinking about the TE sets and refusing to run 4-5 WRs sets? The guy is all over the place and is Crowton/Cam Cameron all over again. He's absolute trash for the money LSU is paying. I get his playbook is cut down for Daniels but why does this not seem to impact creative minds like Kiffin? LSU is paying this guy big league money to repeat a Les Miles offense and not figure it out for us.

Why, because he wasn’t handling the ball off well enough? The staff wasn’t going to let him or Daniels throw it much in the 2nd half.

And Daniels sure as hell wasn’t any better passing it last night. Auburn played to limit his ability to roll out and run and it negated his strengths. 8/18 for 80 isn’t going to cut it against anyone else on this schedule except maybe UAB.

Neither of these guys is the star you want them to be.

I'm getting there. Daniels is the safe choice but he's an anchor around the passing game. He can't or won't throw. Start mixing in Nuss for a few drives and see if he can get the passing game in a rhythm.

I don’t know if this will work or not. But I agree that it is worth trying.

Same here. It may not, but 8/18 and 80 is not good enough in the SEC and the staff shouldn’t limit itself to one guy if that’s all we’re getting.

We certainly do and you’re one of them. It was the defense that won that game they nearly lost and not the QB. If anything, Nuss would have stretched the field. Daniels is a zero risk guy and fricking would not even throw a 50/50 ball or remotely try to throw receivers open. HE HASNT DONE THAT ALL SEASON AND IT WILL GET WORSE. In 2 games Daniels will be benched

If you can’t see how overmatched Nuss was in those moments I don’t know what to say. He looked like a high school qb trying to play college. It was like having hatch out there.

Either play both, or, stop trying to make JD a pocket passer.

RPO, roll out, option football suits JD way better.

USE HIS SPEED! He may be the fastest man in college football!

I’m not saying Nuss is the answer and should be the starter. That said, how in the frick was he any worse last night? It’s low bar either way, but damn.

We had to depend on the run game and defense to win and the same would have been the case if Daniels hadn’t gotten hurt.

What strength? Surely not pitch and catch?

He has to be the most hyped below average QB in our life time. I could understand if they were calling for Walker Howard, but Nuss? He has 6 games of film out already and none of it is stellar. More picks than TDs and no wow moments. It’s like they are embellishing his talent level.

If you want them to run Daniels more, then we had better rotate. We are only 5 games in and Daniels hasn’t finished the last two, and we haven’t played the most physical defenses we will face yet.

They did roll Daniels a little last night, but I agree it should be more. I also don’t know why they won’t run more RPO, because that was a small but consistent part of Denbrock’s offense with Ridder at Cincy.

They are BOTH average as frick as P5 QBs. Daniels may have elite speed, but what does that get you when he produces 80 passing yards with one of the best WR groups in college football? How can any of you idiots shill for one of them over the other at this point?

I’m all for Howard getting a shot, but that’s obviously not happening as a condition of him coming here. I am all for “the future is now” but that just is what it is between Kelly and Jamie Howard.

Especially if the play package is different so the defense is dealing with some change and complexity.

This hyperbole needs to go. So far this season the wr group as been average at best. Nobody is creating any separation and they are dropping catchable balls.

Seriously? We lost to a good, not great, just good FSU team. We pounded two rent-a-wins. Our defense had a lot to do with us beating State and they had EVERYTHING to do with beating a mediocre to bad Auburn last night. We have 1 quality win so far this season.

The defense is going to need a lot more help starting this week, or we will lose a lot of football games down the stretch.
