If a great player is playing on a defensive line that has zero talent around him, he is going to be double teamed. Any good offensive coordinator/offensive line coach wants to take the best player out of the game. That poor fella isn't going to get the tackles or recognition needed going into the NFL draft to go high. That guy transfers with two years of eligibility left to a school that has deep talent around him. He sits one year and learns the defense. He is saving his body while not playing. Comes in his redshirt Junior year and no longer has double teams to hold him up because the other studs on the defensive line are all requiring the same attention. His productivity goes up, and he can still declare for the NFL the same exact year he would have gone had he stayed in a putrid defense with dismal numbers. It is a brilliant move for the young man and I am glad he chose LSU.

If you have talent, the league will find you.

So you are saying that he should have stayed at Texas Tech?

Edit: I can see that argument. He could have stayed one more year at Tech, had mediocre numbers and left after one more year. I would suspect that he would go in later rounds of the draft however. It seems like a lot of surround first and second round picks. Usually those guys have great stats and a lot of hype to go with those stats. I just don't see that happening for him at Tech.

I'm glad he's coming, but it is weird. If we run a 3-4, he's probably going to be doubled here, a lot. But, oh well, we'll take it, he looks to have talent..

Then why am I stuck in a 9-5 job making a mid range salary?

True, but our 3-4 has a lot of blitzing and crazy stuff going on with hybrid defensive ends playing linebacker etc...If you double team one guy all the time, another guy is going to eat your offensive line up.

Because, despite what your boyfriend says, you have no talent

Lots of reasons guys move on. But hey, LSU has had 5 star all time high school sack leaders with loads of talent around them not get drafted. Most of it depends on the individual.

And an argument has been made that LSU doesn't coach up their players. Which is bullshite, but the argument is there from our own fanbase.

not true, you have guys getting drafted out Troy St, La Tech, and Western Kentucky. If you have the tools, does not matter where you play.

Just wait until he get his first coverage sack!

It's great to play DL when your backfield is the best anywhere.

hes playing end, not NT... hes the perfect size for DE in a 3-4.. 6'3 280lbs.. thats why a guy like Tyson Jackson goes 4th overall...

Something tells me he will still make his way to double teams. In fact I hope he does, I want him to be an anchor in the middle the way Michael Brockers. Eat up blocks so Aranda's linebackers can make plays.

We are a 3-4, but it is a one-gap system. Lot's of attacking more than soaking up blocks. That added with the talent he'll be surrounded with...he should be setup to be a monster.

you are right and chances are they already know about him....that being said he will be 2nd to 3rd round or later at texas tech where as at LSU he would have a chance being a 1st rounder...not saying he wouldnt havea chance at texas tech to be a 1st rounder just chances are better at LSU due to program and coaching and talent around him

They don't usually go first round. At least I can't think of any who have. This guy's pedigree has first round hype all over it. He was one of the most coveted tackles out of high school, 5* prospect who has a bunch of hype but no numbers. All he needs is numbers to match the hype and he is a legit first rounder. Heck he doesn't even have good numbers in college and is the topic of conversation among college think tanks.
