I can remember when Tiger Stadium had hedges around the field just like at UGA.

I don’t know. It’s an interesting observation that I’ve never even thought about.

Yes I believe the font was even the same for the numbers at UGA or really similar. Going by early child memory anyway

It's because Louisianas can't count by 10s.

Georgia did it during the Herschel years, but I don't know when they stopped.

Fresno St. had it in recent years, though not anymore. That’s the only one I have seen recently.

Edit: The rule changed in 1912, so that part is true.

LINK

The link mentions something about a "Louisiana Network" started in the 1940's....but no mention of WWL, when did WWL start carrying LSU football?

It stands out to me Everytime I see it

Yep.

And. We still use the H shaped goal posts.

That and the numbers set us apart from any other football field including the NFL

Georgia puts their G logo on the goal lines. That and the Tiger Stadium every 5 yard field numbers is one of hundreds of idiosyncrasies that make college football the greatest sport in the world. Speaking of which, the street overpass running up against the end zone stands at Sanford Stadium is another cool example of cool college football shite. I can not wait for the season to start!

Probably. And TS is also the only stadium (I think) that has 2 posts for the goal post.

The 5 yard lines & “H” style goal posts are a few things that sets Tiger Stadium apart

Georgia changed theirs to be similar to ours and to go every 5 yards around 1977 or '78. I saw highlights of an Alabama-Georgia game in '76 on YouTube, and they had a generic round font with markers every 10 yards then. When they went to every 5 yards, that font was close to ours but not identical.

LSU has had the same yard marker font since at least the late '60s. There is a clip of an LSU-Auburn game from '69 on YouTube and the font is the same then as it is now. And LSU hasn't changed it in all the years since, even though they've changed midfield logos and end zone fonts a few times since.

I love the 5 yard increments. I believe DiNardo was the one who brought back the H-style goal posts.

H style goalposts were brought out in 1993 for the 100 year anniversary of LSU football.
