I certainly get a different opinion from reading this board. And, the people on this board seem to come to a far better conclusion than the espn story does.

It makes no sense to me for LSU to want to cancel the game.

Speculation: It will cost LSU 1.5 million to pay USA for their game (assuming LSU plays UF on the 19th). Seems logical to me that the SEC would pay that fee and relieve LSU of the financial hit. Couple that with LSU can give USA a future game. I just dn't see the buyout to USA being a problem.

frick whatever Florida wants. They should've ruled this game a forfeit for Florida. We did everything we could possibly do to make this game happen and they refused every time. frick them, frick yellow teeth, frick that whole university. fricking trash is what they are.

Multiple other schools moved their games back or changed sites due to this hurricance, yet Florida can't figure it the frick out? Come on, that's bullshite.

Joe should say "Now look, WE did everything we could to accommodate the University of Florida, they refused EVERY TIME. But since I'm a nice guy and believe in giving people the benefit of the doubt and second chances and all that stuff, Mr. Foley, we would still love to play y'all, doesn't matter what site hosts the game, on Monday. You have two whole days to make up your mind on the matter. I know that you had an entire week to come to the very very late conclusion you came to yesterday, but, like I said, I believe in giving people the benefit of the doubt. If you cannot come up with a way to play this game, within the next two days, then I will call for y'all to be charged a forfeiture of a game. You know since you sat on your hands for a week watching this storm waiting until Thursday to make a decision."

LSU has more to lose by not playing this game than Florida. LSU was going to win this game. Florida clearly did not want to play this game.

Story is wrong.

Why the heck would we push for a cancellation when we bent over backwards to make the game happen? That's nuts.

Whoever wrote that is fishing for views.

LSU loses at least $3M by giving up a home game. Not to mention making the LSU student athletes play 3 straight road sec games in 13 days in November. All to accommodate UF's lack of contingency planning to play it this week. F that.

To pull that one quote from the article is a little misleading. I really would be opposed to @Arky, @UF, @A&M (shortened week). All right after Bama. That's why we all pushed so hard to somehow, some way play the game this weekend.

1.5 million buy out. Don't forget refunded for tickets, any revenue generated on game day. Private groups run the concessions and get a portion of the money. A lot of variables go into cancelling a game.

Why is there an SEC Office again? Not sure it needs to exist if it can't solve a problem like this.

It's just money, who cares? Don't ever tell me that money is a reason to not put our kids in a position to win. Hell, we just spent over $10 million to put them in a position to win. And 3 straight road games? So. Ask the players if they are willing to do that to have a chance to win the West, or if they would rather just play South Alabama and not have a chance to win the West. Make the move, play on 11/19. We owe it to the players.

That's right. There's a lot more to it than just the buyout. Unless the SEC is willing to give LSU $7-$8 million, no thanks. That doesn't include the overall gain for the local economy, as all the beer, food, hotels, restaurants, and bars generate big time money for gamedays.

Not just the money to South Alabama. LSU & BR will lose a ton of money cancelling a home game, millions...Will Florida split their proceeds? Doubt it.

So who reimburses the 100,000+ LSU ticket holders (over 3 Million just there), people that paid for parking, the vendors, the hotels, and the restaurants in BR for the cancelled home game? Also, it will put LSU on the road for 3 straight gams with a Thursday game away at A&M. The SA game would allow the team to heal... o yeah just screw the student athletes as well.

So it is a little more complex than just paying off SA.

Fixed it, and it is total bullshite that the SEC office let them get away with this, and if we have to lose a home game then there should be a class action suit against UF and the SEC for all the losses in revenue to LSU and any other business that will lose revenue because they refused to move this game to Sunday or Monday.

If you think that's it, I've got a bridge to sell you. They don't want an L hung on them and they and the SEC office orchestrated their way out of that L

Well we actually lose a chance to win by cancelling that game. And if its all about the players, then why would we frick over another school who has nothing to do with this mess?

LSU bent over backwards to make this game happen. Florida didn't want to play, not LSU.

Going forward, the only way I'd be happy with playing on 11/19 is if we are compensated for the loss home game AND move the A&M game to Saturday. No way in hell we should have to play at Florida then A&M 5 days later.

frick Florida.

I love how they say it would be impossible to plan a road trip for 150 people in a day and a half, immediately following the quote that LSU offered on Sunday to play the game in Baton Rouge.

LSU attempted to make the UF game happen so cancellation of the USA game didn't have to happen.

This game COULD have been played. If not in Florida, then somewhere else. LSU should not have to lose revenue and alter a game with a future opponent simply because UF wanted the most beneficial solution for them in this situation.

In one fricking day in 2008 the SEC was able to move the entire SEC basketball tournament to a new venue, but they couldn't figure out in the span of a week how to MAYBE move the venue for one football game? Give me a break.

Put it in Legion Field. Significantly limit ticket sales so as not to overburden the city of Birmingham. Have LSU travel to/from AL on gameday if necessary, but you get it done!
