Is there a roster limit in effect for the SECT?

If we limit certain pitchers, we may need more arms if we win a few. I can't remember if roster limits were still in effect.

With a win today or a Vandy loss, would you think CPM changes up the pitching rotation for the tourny?

Not the rotation, but you better believe he'll make sure not to overextend any of our 3 starters.

I think regardless of what happens today, we need to set up our pitching for regionals. So I wouldn't be surprised if Lange sits completely, Poche is limited to 50 or so. Bain too. Then our best relievers only get about an inning or two the whole week. Newman, Reynolds, Bugg, Person.

It would be nice to bring Bouman, Devall, and May to eat up as many innings as possible

I would not throw any of our regular starters on Wednesday. Throw someone like Reynolds. Give Poche a full weeks rest and let him go Thursday. Then just go from there.

I'm sure whatever we bring to Hoover will be our postseason roster. With the exception of adding Kramer if he's healthy.

Exactly what should be done. We'll see.

I've been to the championship game the last two years. The selfish man in me wants them to get there again. I love that trip.

But the realist in me kinda wants us to lose out quick.

With the limit, that's what I expected.

Yeah I mean I want to win every game. That's just me. I'd like to play at least 3 and get everyone some work though.

Now that I think about it, the NCAA roster may even be limited to 25 not 27 like SEC games.

Again, the fan in me wants to win of course. I'll be cheering for wins. But I'm like you. 3 games would be "perfect"

Here's your answer LINK

quote:

Now that the postseason has arrived, Mainieri will tinker with the 27-man roster he can play with in Hoover, while also leaving his options open for the NCAA Tournament.

Junior left-hander Hunter Devall will be back on the active list after he didn't make the trip to South Carolina. He started a mid-week game at UNO and was rock-solid for 3 innings to notch his second victory.

His return gives LSU 13 pitchers and means former Brother Martin star Greg Deichmann will not be on the active roster, which was planned to allow him to head to the East Coast and get his summer season in the Cape Cod League started.

Two other Tigers are in wait-and-see mode: Infielder Kramer Robertson and senior southpaw Kyle Bouman. Robertson is still recuperating from a torn muscle in his throwing elbow and could be cleared to throw by the time regional time arrives. Bouman's only path to the NCAA roster is if a pitcher suffers an injury.

Besides Deichmann and Bouman, the other players not on the postseason roster are pitchers Brady Domangue (injured), Jake Latz and Ryan May.

CPM & Bregman both have emphatically said that they want to win the whole thing. CPM has done this 5 out of the last 7 tourneys & no one can claim that any subsequent losses in a regional was due to our players being over worked.

Skip's method > CPM's method

I understand that CPM has been in situations where they NEEDED to go deep or even win the SECT. That is not the case this year. At this point, total focus should be on the NCAAT.

Of course they "want to win the whole thing". Who wouldn't? That doesn't mean they should throw Lange 110 pitches or extend anyone for that matter. If Stevenson's hammy isn't really 100%, no reason for him to play. If Scivicque could use some rest, give it to him.

It's fun to say things that can't be proven to boost your point.
