Is our internal policies and compliance a hindrance to success?

I was listening to Sports Today yesterday morning and Hanagriff said something interesting.

He could not recollect a impact player at Alabama / Ole Miss / or for that matter of fact SEC player ever being kicked off the team prior to as big a game as we will be playing on Saturday. He could not even remember a Michigan or a Ohio State player.

So he introspected that the SEC does not have a uniform substance abuse policy. So is our substance abuse policy and compliance really hurting us?

Look I am all for compliance to NCAA regulations / SEC regulations etc. I would not have it any other way.

However, what good does it do when we kick out a senior sack leader, 4 games away from completing his career.

I mean Florida State let Jameis Winston continue playing even when there was a sexual assault accusation against him. Cam Newton during the 2010 Auburn season continued to play on.

So why can we not look the other way for a senior before a big game? He has 4 games left and he could really make a difference.

This is the rarest of occasions, when we have a QB (Joe Burrow) who can take on Nick Saban's defense. Next year we will not have him. God I hope we have Joe Brady.

We need all the help this Saturday,
Not having Divinity Saturday will hurt us on.

Who confirmed this was substance abuse?

If he was kicked off the team why did O very publicly say that the door was open for him to come back?

The players know the rules and the consequences if they break them, so ultimately it's on them. That said, I do feel that compliance policies that are excessively aggressive can put us at a disadvantage to other teams that don't have such policies.

Woodward made a statement when he was first hired that said something to the effect that compliance should work with the athletic department, not against them. That led me to believe that he's aware of the situation and that he intends to do something about it.

Just repeating the speculation from Hanagriff and Ott.

I'll play along. I think it's inconsistent of LSU to mandate athletes get drug tested and not everyone on some form of public funding. If no NCAA policies have been broken, then Divinity should remain on the team.

Hopefully Woodward takes all money given to the university and puts it elsewhere.

Jameis was suspended for a couple of games and he missed the Clemson game, which was their biggest chance to lose that regular season.

"Look the other way "? you have to be joking. People like you are what's wrong with this country. Just follow the rules and no one has to look the other way.
