I've seen many posts about how this upcoming football season is THE year for LSU football. There is no "wait until next year when we have more experience" excuses. With all of the recruits, experience, and returning players I 100% agree. The stars are aligned perfectly given the talent leaving from other teams around the country. So my question is, will next year be considered a failure if the CFP trophy is not brought back to Baton Rouge? There is always the possibility that something out of our control happens and it costs of a game, i.e. the blown call by the refs in the Notre Dame game. In my opinion LSU will easily have the most talented team in the country next year. It's CFP or bust for me.

ETA: Another question. What if we lose 1 game all year and missed the SEC championship game due to a bad call by the refs against a team like Bama? How would you feel about that then? We've seen it happen before..

With the amount of talent we have on the team, it should be that way every year.

No excuses.

Yes. And if it doesnt go well, the next year will be. (and the next one after that and the following one). Always next year around this joint.

My question wasn't directed at the issue of fans being upset with a bad season like last year. My point was, where is the line drawn that would make fans angry or happen with how the season turned out. That's all.

I may be in the minority on here but I just like watching college football. And I especially like watching LSU play college football.

So for me, no. It's not "Championship or Bust". I intend to enjoy watching the Tigers.

No...not even close:

- Louisiana is in the ditch financially - there is no will to fire and pay right now unless absolutely necessary;
- If Miles wins 9 games, he will be nearly impossible to fire because of the aforementioned fact; and
- Barring a complete catastrophe, LSU will win 9 games when you count the bowl game.

As long as the recruiting does not dip - which equates to 8-9 win seasons, Les is here as long as he desires - Championship or not.

So, in that sense, it is to a Ship or Bust season...it is no different than any other.

SEC West championship or bust yes. As fans all we can ask for is a chance and an SEC west title will give you a chance. After that it is three one game seasons to win a national championship. Anything can happen in one game.

I wasn't asking about Miles' future. I'm asking, will fans be angry if we dont win it all next year? Even if we don't win because of a blown call or some fortuitous circumstance that is beyond our control. Where do fans draw the line between being satisfied or unsatisfied with the season?

SEC West Championship or bust

I don't think that's asking too much. We've only won it once in eight seasons. Let that sink in.

These are LSU fans...they are angry every year that we don't win it. Every year could be a championship year because of the recruiting (barring the years we start freshman QBs).

LSU is the #1 team on Espn's newest FPI rankings. For comparison Ohio St was 1 last season, Bama was 2nd.

LSU fans, or at least a portion of them are always angry. They are angry when LSU wins, they are angry when LSU loses. They are never satisfied with any result.

Yep. Winning 10 or 11 games this year is not going to cut it simply because:

1) A lot, and I do mean A LOT, of talk on passing till arms are tired in practice. A lot of "speaking with other spread offensive coaches". A lot of backup QB "competing like heck". A lot of talk to fail here.

2) This is the most returning starters we've had in a very long time

3) One of the best college RBs of all time, the best college RB in the country, and in LSU history, will be in his 3rd year. In addition, an almost equally ridiculous RB right behind him that would likely be in the top 3 in the country if he were the starter.

4) We will have a returning starter at QB, a junior one at that. We also will be one of the only teams in the entire conference with a returning starter at QB.

5) Just hired one of the best DCs in the country who has 8 returning starters on his squad including 19 of the top 22 (1st and 2nd string)

6) We kept Cam Cameron, for I'm guessing stability, who still making a million+ a year. We've also brought in a "passing game" coach that is supposed to improve the QBs and WRs.

7) We just brought in the #3 class in the country.

8) We get Bama and Ole Miss at home

9) Ole Miss only brings back 9 starters total. Arkansas loses 3rd year starting QB, best RB since McFadden, the best TE in the country, and 3 of their 5 on OL.

If all that only gives us an even record (10 wins with McNeese St cupcake) or one more win (11), then it's time to throw the bank at somebody else to run this ship.

ETA:

Read down a couple of posts and see that you wanted to know how we'd feel. Look, I will be mad if we lose 2 games and one of the two is before the post season. Of course me being mad does nothing, but still, it's SEC West or bust.
