All depends on how one defines better in this context; head-to-head, conference record, post-season success, NC's or assigning some weight to all of the above.

I could have sworn that we just won the SEC regular season championship. I'm probably wrong though

4th or 5th is probably a better placement

Well, its all a matter of perspective. I could see Georgia fans howling about being third best but I wouldn't give the claim that much credence.

Bama, Tennessee, LSU, Florida, Georgia in that order at the top.

An argument could be made for placing Florida at number three but all of their success has come since the 1980's. Prior to that they had never won a conference championship.

The head to head comparisons is a valid measurement but I put no value in Heisman winners or All-Americans.

I can see that. I think I agree with the Heismans and All Americans. All that matters is wins and losses.

True, UF really didnt reach this level until the 80s but I think a case can be made that over the last 25-30 years....they are the top program in the SEC.

Either way....I can't wait for this season.

I actually just booked my flight this morning to Texas for the A&M game in college station. Hopefully we can welcome them to the big boys conference the right way!

Should be 5th best at least...maybe worse.
Didn't Mississippi State win the SEC tournament?

IMO since 1984 Florida has been the most dominant team in the SEC.

I'm with you on that accord.

No.

Number 1 football is laughable. I am a florida fan and there is absolutely no doubt Alabama owns SEC football....all time and currently.

Hate all you want. They have more National Titles than anyone else does SEC titles. They have won 2 out of the last 3 BCS titles. They currently have the best head coach in the country. Thats like saying UK isn't number 1 in basketball

NO! We won the SEC and we had to play all three of those teams. Just because we didnt make the CWS doesnt make them better. We got a good Stoney Brook team and they just played better then we did in the series. Better luck next year THATS HOW BASEBALL WORKS!

Do I still think Alabama was a better team then us last year? NO we were the better team all year. We just got a bad draw and got out coached.

Its hard to to put Bama football anywhere but number one all time in the SEC. They also have a legit argument for being the most dominant program today.

Of course SEC football has been very fluid over the past 30 years with a number of different teams ascending to the top.
