Better question is who will be the hitting coach?

Vol coach to be filled
Most likely the coach from Arizona who has worked with him at several places

My guess would be Marc Wanaka as the volunteer coach, he's been with Coach J for a while.

Johnson’s the HC.
Kelly’s the PC.
Fitzgerald is the recruiting coordinator.

Sounds like Fitz will have his hands in the offense.

Volunteer coach will probably be the hitting coach.

Thought you could have 3 paid assistants ? So Cain, Dunn, and E. Smith on the last staff, who was the vol coach ? Thought they were all pd assistants ...

You can only have 2 paid assistants for baseball, those were Dunn and Cain last year. Eddie Smith was the volunteer coach.

If it’s Wanaka, why do we think he hasn’t come yet?

From a report on Eddie Smith.

New LSU volunteer coach and hitting coach Eddie Smith hopes to replicate the success he had at Tulane University.

Smith left the Green Wave to join his former college coach, Paul Mainieri, at LSU. Smith won’t get a salary, but Mainieri will match his expected pay with money from his baseball camps to pay one of his assistants.

I'm no expert on this, Coach J could have his eye on someone else for the position and I'd have no idea. Just pointing out that Wanaka has been with him for a while, so he'd be a candidate.

So all these guys focus on hitting. Any of them are sound defensive coaches? Last thing we need is poor fielding. The rant will expload if another player misses any routine play.

I’m pretty sure Jeremy Talbot from ULL is coming to Baton Rouge as well in some capacity

Just here to shite on the fact that the NCAA limits coaches to 2 paid assistants. So dumb.

ANY routine play? Or do you mean if our infielders can’t throw to first base with any consistency?

It’s ok to admit the team last year just wasn’t very good or talented. You have a handful of guys we all know who could play anywhere. Beyond that, it’s an average south land conference roster

Interview with Fitzgerald on moscona he indicated he has hitting background and works with outfielders and infielders
Also sounded like he would be coaching 3rd
He didn’t know anything about coaching catchers
