To the contrary:
His gaining this much weight is unquestionable.

He needed to come in overweight because he's going to burn it all off with his metabolism during the season. Everyone should be ideally a few pounds overweight when they first come in.

Also, don't mean to hijack the thread, but since we're discussing keys physical shape, does key's post-surgery rehab, which most likely consists of not lifting heavy weights, gonna have an effect on his strength/durability over the course of the season?

I have a friend who played OLB in high school. He got his finger "caught up" in the jersey of a player and it was broken. That sidelined him for weeks and really impacted his play negatively afterward (had to tape several fingers together to protect it.)

Does anyone know if Arden Key has fingers? If he does...THAT IS CONCERNING TO ME!!!

Hell yeah he is. He's not just sitting on his arse eating twinkies and drinking soft drinks all day. He's working out and doing football drills. He's going to be a professional athlete and he knows he has to stay in shape. Any weight he has gained is mostly good weight, meaning it's muscle. If he has put on some weight that's not muscle, it's water weight that will go away within a week of putting pads on. He has posted instagram vids of him working out and doing drills. He's in great shape I promise.

The coaching staff already said that he is overweight and out of shape.

quote:

O's response: "Arden has the potential to be a more dominant defensive player that Miles Garrett. I don't think he'll be ready for fall camp but he will play this season. He's put on some weight so he'll have to get back into football shape but he had 12 sacks last year as a sophomore so as a junior he'll be better."

He IS fine lol. Gaining weight is not a bad thing in these cases, he's been working out prob more than he would if he was participating with the team right now. He's prob been working out 2 to 3 times a day. He's a gym rat and a workout nut. He will be in the best shape he has been in since he's been here

Ok. But what you don't understand is that "out of shape" for arden key isn't the same as out of shape for a normal person. He's going to be fine. Stop freaking out.

Who's freaking out? I just said he was out of shape.

I lost 9 lbs last week, hiking in the Smokies.

Im sure Key can get into shape by the start of the season.
