Is Dupre leaving early a lose/lose situation?

I wish him the best, but I think he is hurting himself by leaving early. He has a chance to shine next year - what finally showed up in the bowl game. Of course, LSU misses out too, but that should not be a part of HIS decision.

He has tools but he's very inconsistent. Pro Football Focus has him as the #4 receiver in the draft, so he probably has a late first or early second round grade.
As for the Tigers, there are plenty of weapons in the cupboard. I'm anxious to see Drake Davis and Stephen Sullivan get playing time. LSU will be fine.

Justin Hunter, Cardelle Patterson, Da'Rick Rogers. All were productive in college and have insane talent. But that doesn't always pan out in the NFL. There are tons of more examples.
Dupre might do well in the NFL, but the league is sink or swin, even with a weak receivers class, he could of still used another year of development.
Remember Terrance Tolliver. 5 star recruit with huge talent, had a similar career to Dupre, fizzled out in the NFL. Had a great year in the CFL though.

NO WAY 1st round. Lucky to be a 2nd

I wish him the best and he certainly has the talent to exceed at the next level.
With that being said, he more than likely would've benefitted more to come back for his senior year.
Maybe he has other reasons to go, I don't know.
He really didn't show what he was capable of until the middle of this season to the bowl game.
I wouldn't call it a lose/lose situation though. Plenty of talent at WR waiting to play.
I wish Dupre the best.

not if he is really the #4 receiver.
it sucks for us because we saw him improve so much last year and know he will still improve.

He's going to get drafted highly in the draft (top 2 rounds), no reason for him to really come back next year. Sure you could say he should come back to try for first round, but Davis, Anderson, and Chark will take receptions away.

What he had better do is put on about 20-30 pounds or he won't last his first contract in the NFL
Good luck to him and I'm glad he decided to play in state and at home

That PFF article grading him as the #4 receiver in the draft was written prior to the 2016 season...No way he will be a top 5 receiver in the draft. Detillier has him graded as a 3rd round pick.

I wish him luck, but he will be mid 3rd round at best.. he has thrived on his 5 star high school rating and really has under produced, to say it mildly. He has trouble getting in the clear and his route running is lacking. He has been dependent on his erratic jumping ability and QBs that can only throw him jump balls (prior to Etling). Wish him luck tho. Will be replaced easily.

Could be.
He's betting on himself and the workouts he's going to have. We'll see if he's been fed a bunch of bad info (my guess) or if he outperforms his play and gets drafted higher than most think.
We'll see how he does in the draft.

He based his decision off of the fact that he will run a 4.5 40 and have the highest vertical leap at the entire combine. He's betting on those numbers, his size and his bowl performance to get him in the second round. With the way some NFL GMs drool over potential he may be right...

He is going Day 2... May not be a "star" in the NFL but will be a solid player and have a decent career. Wish him the best....

I see him drafted early 2nd round.

A poor mans Ruben randle. Mid 3rd round pick. Never like when guys go early and kind of even hoped LF7 would come back (the kid in me). But in all honesty, didn't really care if Dupre came back. We can replace his 2 catches a game of production.
I think it was a bad move for him, but he didn't really improve while he was here, so maybe coming back wouldn't have helped his stock anyway.

If he's rated #4 receiver in this year's class, then BYE. Seriously, I like the kid and have loved having him here. Yes, another year might help, but it might not. Say he does great and is the 7th best in next year's class anyway. Sure, as fans we'd love to have him back, but if he's got a good opening to jet, do it. He's not transferring, he gave us what we expected, three years. Brandon Harris is not his fault, and neither is Les's offense. We've seen what he can do with a decent QB, so go, make LSU fans everywhere proud.

No guarantee of that at all.
