Unless Beloso is playing shortstop, then no he’ll still be there.

He is your mess now. Truth be told, he was about the last player i thought would transfer to lsu and start.

That move was a total headscratcher. Maybe your staff can turn him around..

He has the best batting average and OBP on the team in SEC play and it is not even close for anyone with at least 10 PAs.

This team is middle of the pack in fielding, they are second to last behind Missouri in hitting. They need a SS who hits as well as Braswell more than they need one who fields better than he does.

Why are other teams allowed to post here but we can't post on SEC Rant?

It’s going to be hard to bench a guy that’s hitting .393 in SEC play when no one else is over .300 and your offense sucks

The stats say outside of power, he's a much better hitter than Jordan Thompson, and basically the same fielder.

ETA: 3 people so far don't like stats, aka what is really happening. Higher avg, higher OBP, less K's, higher FP, less power.

I don't really see Jay benching him, even though he has the lowest fielding % on the team

Did you see him on that ball last night? He was so scared lol

Braswell has been fine.

He is a shortstop, of course he has the lowest fielding percentage on the team

He’s been bad defensively, but you don’t really have other options with how well he has been hitting the ball

Yeah we should bench arguably the best hitter through conference play. Have you seen Jay try other guys at SS? Milam comes in last night and completely derps a ball then 5 runs score after.

Who is going to replace him even if he moves elsewhere like 2B? Nippolt who cant hit at all? Milam who has struggled in conference play hitting and himself hasnt been great at SS when put there?

Should w ejust throw Kucherak there and hope for the best

I can say I expected more from him defensively than he has shown this season. I thought he would be a little more reliable on some of the makeable plays up to this point.

On the flip side, he has exceeded my expectations at the plate by far. I was hoping he would hit around .275-.285 and he is up over .300 right now with looking better at the plate since SEC play has started.

No he hasn’t. You don’t know what bad is if you think he has been bad.

Can you explain to me what would make a bad defensive shortstop?

As someone who lets one or two errors trigger them into calling a player bad on defense (see Jared jones as well), that would probably be a futile exercise on my part.

LSU fans have been spoiled by a a decade+ run of pro’s playing SS here. Braswell will never make the MLB but what you see if a competent SEC SS on defense. SS is hard.

Hes had an above average number of chances, which is usually a good sign. Errors happen. It doesn’t mean you are bad.

When have I called Jones bad on defense? I have said that he is an average defensive first baseman many times, which I will stand by.

I am asking you what makes a player a bad defensive SS.

Jordan Thompson had a stretch where he couldn’t throw the ball to first base. I wasn’t sure he’d ever get over it. That was erratic & bad.

And When it was said & done, i wouldn’t even classify him as a bad SS. He just had a bad few months. Playing SS is one of the hardest things to do in all of sports.
