Is Back-dooring a National Seed Realistic?

I ask if it’s realistic after seeing the RPI jump after today’s win. What happens if we beat Vandy tomorrow and our RPI jumps to 12. Meanwhile our SOS continues to climb and is now at 3. Let’s say we play Georgia Sunday and win. Our RPI now sits at 9, our SOS at 2 with a very stout resume.

Is it enough? Would our RPI make that kind of jump beating Vandy and Georgia? Could we backdoor a National Seed?

This is clearly hypothetical, getting past Vandy tomorrow is a very large task.

Possible? Yes.

Likely? No.

Which is honestly impressive in and of itself.

4 SEC Teams are an absolute lock for a National Seed. LSU will get a regional number one seed but not a Top 8. There’s no way the NCAA awards the SEC with five Top 8s.

100% agreed. They probably should but they won't.

All that plus 4 mid week victories would. But they don’t count.

Win those six midweek instate games and you're 43-17 with a Top 10 RPI and a lock for a national seed!

An rpi of 9 or 10 does not guarantee you a national seed

Sweep the Auburn series and win the long Ole Miss and State games and we’re sitting pretty as well. frick a mid week game. They are for experimenting with your lineup at most

If we would have swept Auburn we would have had a decent chance

I don’t believe so. A little run too late. Certainly, if we beat Vandy, this team’s stock and confidence would skyrocket but too many midweek losses this time.
