Starting off with 3 dominating wins in the first three games, Bilas on SVP saying Simmons is the real deal. So much hype and energy going into New York, and then the late upset by Marquette and the collapse in OT vs NCST, were a little annoying because you thought with Victor and Hornsby we would've won those games easy. Then came the losses to Charleston and Houston, both of which never should've happened. The wake forest loss is so frustrating considered they went 2-16 in conference play.

Then we finally got to conference play and looked the team we thought we would have the whole year, the Oklahoma lose stung a lot, but we rebounded against A&M, and then boom the wheels fell off.

After all the pre-season hype and the excitement after the 3-0 start, and then almost sweeping Kentucky and Oklahoma, the shock of losing so bad yesterday is still around I guess.

Final four type talent? Should they have done better with the talent on the team? Yes but they do not have final four type talent. They have one guy that is a pro and two maybes in victor and blakeney. All three of those players had to play out of position because you don't have a true 1 or 5. This year is a failure but their overall talent was overhyped coming into the season.

I think JJ is just playing the long-game.

Simmons was gonna be gone after this year, no matter what. But by performing at a low level this year, it guarantees Blakney and Victor stay till at least next season. They'll blow up to make the '17 draft, Sampson will come into his own, we'll at least make the sweet 16, recruits will starting choosing LSU over Ky, and we'll have a legit dynasty on our hands. It's brilliant and JJ will finally be seen as the genius that he actually is.

One of the worst coaching jobs ive seen from any LSU coach ever. This team was completely let down by the guy in charge. He doesnt deserve to coach 1 more game.

I don't think final four talent but this team certainly had the talent to make it to the round of 32 and possibly sweet 16

This. I saw us last year lose twice to Auburn, get blasted at home by Tennessee and lose to frickin Missouri last year with two NBA players on the roster.

So I had tempered my enthusiasm to factor some inevitable inexplicable losses and still I'm stunned at the implosion.

the only thing stunning is that LSU is the only university in this country who refuses to fire atrocious coaches. Every university in this nation would have fire Jones before he left the arena, probably long before that tourney began.

This team didn't have the talent everyone seems to think it has especially at the point guard and center positions. Simmons played under the basket out of necessity more then anything.

No point guard
No depth in the post
Victor was good, but would only play 1/2 of the game due to fouls
Blakeney was disappointing most of the season. He was a huge letdown
TQ is a head case and didn't show up for a lot of games
Patterson & Gray aren't very good
Hornsby would be a decent bench player, and nothing more
Darcy & Elbert are absolutely pathetic basketball players
I don't know if Epps is worth a flip or not, I guess not
Bridgewater should try football, that's his only shot at playing

Johnny Jones needs to be fired ASAP...Great recruiter my arse

Ben will do well in the NBA. Ben played on a shite team with a clueless coach. Too much was put on his shoulders.

Not stunned at all, BS has talent but not ready to carry any team. No coaching, team does not shot the ball good, no defense on the blocks down low. This is about what we should have expected after watching just a few games into the season.

Not stunned, just think that LSU should consider not recruiting a "one and done" type player. Seems like the team suffered because of this.

See, here's the thing. Ever since the NBA forced HS players to be one year removed from HS to be draft eligible, non-blue blood programs like Kansas St, Texas AM, GT, Texas, USCw, did just fine with one and dones.

The issue here is Jones. He is a Sun Belt caliper coach dealing with P5 caliber talent, and has been clueless on how to mold that talent into a competitive team.
