Is 15-25 for 225 yds per game reasonable for LSU's passing game?

That would be a 60% completion rate. Is that too much to expect from our quarterbacks?

If we get that, we are going to win a bunch of games

If we can get similar stats to those every game, no reason we can't win the SEC and maybe a game or 2 in the playoffs. LSU would be extremely difficult to beat with the offense putting up those numbers through the air.

reasonable? I'd sacrifice a goat to get those kinds of numbers.

Hell, I'd sacrifice Cecil the lion's brother for that.

Everyone should be fricking ecstatic if we got that type of production.

That's 9 yards per attempt, which was 4th in the nation last year. So, I'm going to put that at an unreasonable expectation.

I understand, but, if one pass goes for 60 yards, then the average on the other catches goes down, and since LSU is known for throwing the deep ball, the long yards coupled with the 2 yards and a cloud of dust starts to look a little more realistic.

Everyone has the 60 yarder in their average. That's why it's called an average. 60% completion percentage was 56th in the nation last year. That is a reasonable expectation, but 9 yards per attempt is not.

So what do you think would be reasonable?

As long as Jennings isn't the starter

Miles will refuse to throw ball 25 x a game. Period! He won't throw it enough against cupcakes to average out to 25 attempts a game! QBs will not check off to throwing ball out of run formations to make things worse!

Very much with Jennings at the helm.

Cameron and miles have both said that they would like to shoot for around 250 ypg. The potential is clearly there with the surplus of talent at receiver. Jennings and harris both have another year under their belts, and the o-line is returning strong, so I would say that things are pointing in a positive direction. On top of that, we have a heisman watch running back and boast a stable of backs that could prove to be one of the best in the nation.SEC better look out!

Without hesitation I would give up my right testicle to have numbers even close to that.

The same 56th in the nation would be 7.4 ypa. So that would be 16/25/185.

Not good enough to win the SEC unless we run for 250+. Then, it's good enough.

That is about 100 yards more per game than last year, so we would win a lot of games, prolly all of them or maybe 1 loss.

With our OL and LF and our talent behind him, we are good for averaging 250 per game on the ground with 220 in the air, for 470 per game. We will squeeze in 300 yards on the ground a few games if our passing yards are big gainers as that would allow for less plays getting to 220 in the air and the running game would get even more carries.

This is actually where I think we need to be. I actually thought of this earlier and would be happy with 210 in the air and 250 on the ground, however that would be ranked as the 3rd best average on the ground in LSU history, but with Fournette that is supposed to happen. Last year we averaged 225 per game rushing for the 4th best LSU all time average with 2,919 total rushing yards.

Lets look at the LSU top 6 and the main RB:

1. 1977: 3,352 yards, 279.3 yards per game
Top rusher: Charles Alexander, 1,686 yards

2. 1976: 3,041 yards, 276.5 yards per game
Top rushers: Terry Robiskie, 1,117 yards; Alexander, 876 yards

3. 2007: 2,998 yards, 214.1 yards per game
Top rushers: Jacob Hester, 1,103 yards; Keiland Williams, 478 yards

4. 2014: 2,919 yards, 224.5 yards per game
Top rushers: Leonard Fournette, 1,034 yards; Terrence Magee, 571 yards

5. 2011: 2,836 yards, 202.6 yards
Top rushers: Michael Ford, 756 yards; Spencer Ware, 707 yards

6. 1997: 2,832 yards, 235.3 yards per game
Top rushers: Kevin Faulk, 1,144 yards; Rondell Mealey, 664 yards

Everyone thinks we had a terrible offense last year but look at our rushing yards, 4th best in school history, however if we would have had an unpredictable offense and more passing yards, we would have had much more rushing yards.

These are my predictions if we get less predictable and pull a balanced and explosive offense like TCU had last year. Granted, if our Defense is good then look out:

Passing Yards: 210 per game

Rushing Yards: 260 per game x 13 games = 3,380 total

Now the totals would go up if we play 14 games which is adding the SEC Championship Game, and either 1 bowl game or one playoff win. If we get to the playoffs and win the first one then we should break the total yard record by playing 15 games, and maybe win the Championship in the process
