Doubt it. His buyout will be millions less after December 31. My guess is they wait until January 1 to officially fire Les. They would, I would hope, already have the successor lined up long before that (but we've seen that movie before).

You realize they are paying his salary in the meantime too, so they aren't spending that much more.

Also, the sooner they fire Les, the sooner the Miles' clause kicks in for his assistants. Hell, it will save you $200 k on Cameron's buyout if you fire Les two months before the season ends and $300k if you fire him 3 months before the season ends. That's just Cameron too.

Couldn't they just strip him of power while keeping him on until the end of the year?

If they lose tomorrow, interim HC, NOW.

if they semi run the table and only lose to sayyyy Florida and Arky then you fire him before bowl game so the new head coach can start cracking some fricking skullz before this season is over with. Or. Since he'd had beaten Bama you let Les finis the bowl game, but already know who the frick is coming in as soon as the clock strikes 0 on the bowl game scoreboard.

If LSU is sitting at 3-3 at the halfway point and the offense still looks putrid, LSU has no choice but to fire Les. You can't leave a lame duck coach in place, and Les has not earned the right to finish out the year given last season. The sooner they turn the page, the sooner the next chapter can start especially with recruiting

I dont see how firing les mid season accomplishes anything. Unless you think the interim coach will win more games. And I just can't buy in that they would be able to change enough to do that.

The new coach will still be at his other school, not thinking or working on LSU.

Unless it's briles, and in that case come on down today. (not suggesting briles fyi)

LSU loses to Auburn , and Miles and Cam are fired (hopefully Peveto too).

Aranda interim, Ed O DC, Craig OC

LSU goes from 2-2 to 10-0 knocking off ranked teams in Florida, Ole Miss, Bama, and TAMU in the regular season. We win the SECCG and go to a New Years 6 Bowl destroying whomever is there. Lindsey Scott becomes a freshman phenom and LSU fans looks forward to a promising 2017 season even though we lose a bunch of star players.

Less should be let go as soon as LSU is out of contention for the sec. I see no reason to keep him around. He hasn't earned that consideration because of his utter failure to do what was asked of him and what he promised to do. He really should be fired today. Anybody that thinks he's going to last the season after losing two or three more games is a dumbass.

You can think what you want, but that simply isn't how these kind of things happen. This isn't about what TigerDroppings wants. Major CFB programs don't fire head coaches, particularly those with tenure, mid season. My personal feelings on the topic don't change the fact that barring a loss to JSU, Miles will finish the season as the HC.

Hal Hunter, interim coach in 1999, check his one game record and research what he did differently from Dinardo.
