and that throw is at the feet of no one in particular. just like his throws when hes standing in the pocket with nothing but time.

and BECAUSE Lee cant run, we dont waste 15 plays a game trying to run him, and instead give the ball to one of our many 5 star running backs so they can beat the shite out of the DL, wear the defense down and score 40 because they're exhausted and broken.

And your argument is not on point. The point was that Jefferson could can buy time on passing plays not running plays.

With all of this throwing to the feet of receivers by JJ, what by chance, is his completion percentage? What is JL's percentage? Which is higher? Surely JL's since he is so much more accurate than JJ, even though he completed 45% of his passes in his last game. Of course we do not want facts to get in the way of our rants.

Career wise, the facts are that JJ has a higher completion percentage 58.8 vs 53.5. Throws less interceptions per attempt. And throws more TD's per pass attempt. So if JJ is throwing all of his passes at the feet of the receivers and still has a higher completion percentage, where is JL throwing his passes? Oh yeah, thats right, the receivers drop JL's great passes. The passes of JJ that they drop are all bad passes, of course. Got it.

Oh I'm not saying JJ didn't take his fair share of criticism last year because over the last few years it has been brutal. I hate how the criticism is so harsh for both. I'm just saying instead of immediately saying JL isn't going to cut it and we need JJ back in order to win games is unfair criticism especially from a professional writer. Nobody knows how JJ would have done against Oregon. What we do know is JJ had his fair share of under 100 yrd games last year, so to say we need him to win after 1 game is unfair and we need to wait and see. JL is the QB now so instead of saying we need JJ we need to give JL some time.

I agree. I am a JJ supporter, but try to remain unbiased. I want to see Lee improve. He is our starting qb and the teams fortunes lie with him. But, I hate to see people rip JJ for his poor play and then turn around & congratulate Lee for producing the same numbers. Let's be even with our criticism. And root for all the Tigers.

uhhh, didn't JJ get hurt on that drive? he was passing pretty well that game (esp. the 2nd half), I don't think Les pulled him.

Those darn facts! Always getting in the way.

Totally agree and I was/am a JJ supporter and looked forward to seeing his play this year. I am also not crowning JL. I just want to see people give him time instead of saying we need JJ, who produced similar stats consistently.

Bingo! I support whichever is starting. But this double standard has got to stop!

I strongly disagree here. He should have tucked it and gotten 3-4 yards before going down. Instead he panicked and ended up losing yards. It was one sack though.

An immobile QB should never move forward 5-yards, then choose to move backwards 5-yards to take a sack, hope he learned from that.

He's got a better arm but when the play breaks down, he is so much less effective than JJ

And Peyton Manning does what when the play breaks down?

he either eats the ball or throws it away...

The bottom line is, why does the play break down?

It didn't happen but 3 times against Oregon that I recall...

Lee needs to make the reads and make the throws... no one said it was easy

Who would Jefferson take snaps from? Ware? Ford?
Most of this is read. The read that JJ keeps on would've been a stuff for the RB if QB keys defense right.
I know a good many posters can't stand JJ, but running these plays loosens the defense up and makes the DE(not named Mingo) tentative.

As much as I'd like to see JJ succeed he has never shown so far that he can calmly go through his reads when the primary receiver is covered.

At the first sign of pressure he either tucks and starts running or throws it short/over the receiver or worse yet panics and takes a sack. Happened so many times last year especially at crucial times.
