remember the announcers mentioning Dave Aranda being somewhat befuddled with having to coach these young kids. He's not used to having to teach very simple techniques and where to line up etc. Judt made me wonder if he's incapable of taking something completely raw and athletic and turning it into greatness. Maybe he needs more senior leadership or experience to be effective. I don't know I just thought back to that comment and saw a lot of just dumb mistakes and sloppy play last night from a young group of defenders.

He coached up a bunch of walkons at Wisky . White said Aranda told them exactly what they were going to do and lined them up perfectly. The players didn't execute.

You have position coaches for that. I hear we have an amazing and ultra experienced DL coach. Prob why they looked so good.

Yea my point exactly. Not that Aranda isn't a phenomenal coach. Just wonder if we have players that can grasp his teachings.

It was the commentator calling the game that said he interviewed Aranda. But yea he could certainly be full of shite.

I believe Aranda teaches scheme and Jenkins teaches technique.

These excuses are lame. He's recruited some of these guys they chose to play.

Two of his fricking players were ejected. Two!! He had same, wtf do I do look at times last night.

Again, poor coaching.

When Alexander went down we were basically out 3 of our top 4 DLinemen.

Couple that with the secondary and LBs not knowing their assignments going against a seasoned QB coached by Dan Mullen and you get the perfect recipe for what we saw on defense yesterday.

In other words, he needs kids who follow their assignments.

Really disagree with you. Last year Devin White played well as a True Freshman but we didn't see him in a main role rotating in during crunch time until Ole Miss. In short he had time to develop. These kids will be amazing but our attrition and lack of depth on defense has forced them into major roles much earlier than White last year.

IMO these kids are more ready to contribute earlier and are actually therefore showing more of Arandas ability to coach young kids up than White last year was. It's just that we don't have a beast 4-Year Starter, 5-Star Mike LB like Beckwith to go along with a 5th year Senior in Duke Riley to help transition them in slowly.

Man this place is full of smart asses. I wasn't making an argument I was simply stating what Aranda said himself. Three games isn't enough time to know if he can or can't coach up these kids. I'm simply curious if he's not a better fit for more experienced players like he's had at Wisconsin. They may have been walk ons but they were a senior laden team. And go frick yourself.
