IMO , it's hard to pick between TM and Laron Landry. TM was a ball hawk. LL led the team in tackles on one of the best LSU defenses of ALLTIME. I'm sure there are some older players in forgetting.

Probably Laron he started on a NC Defense and I believe led the team in tackles.

Tough to go against Hilliard, but Ben Wilkerson came in as a true freshman and started at center for the 2003 team. He would have been a certain first-rounder had he not torn his patella tendon in a blowout win against Vandy with only seconds left on the clock.

Definitely the right answer for basketball.

Pete was on an even higher level but they had split freshman/varsity college teams back then.

What about guys like Tommy C? Limiting this list to "true freshmen" is silly if it allows us to exclude #37.

Like compiling a GOAT LSU men's basketball team and ignoring Pete because he couldn't play as a true freshman.

I thought of Anthony ("Booger") MacFarland - I thought he started and played at a high level as a freshman. However, I've got to go with Dalton Hilliard.
