Imagine if LSU-Ala or any SEC game ended the same way Wisc-Arizona State ended

You think they would sort it out on the field and not have referees running for cover after the game? What a frickin' joke! I get mad just watching the replay. Unbelievable! Just when you thought you had seen it all in college football. THIS! I hope they fire ALL those officials. Talk about complete incompetence. Judge for yourself.

It was the ref's fault the wiscy qb forgot to kneel? I know he technically "gave himself up", but it was a boneheaded play. They should not have even given the refs the chance to make that mistake. How often does the qb wait till the very last instance to kneel, even though he has "given himself up" just to burn a few more seconds. The ASU player saw that as a live ball and dove on it. The wiscy qb blew it!

First time seeing the reply I couldn't tell that his knee was down. But then they should of reviewed it.

First of all he did kneel. 2nd he wasn't burning time he was centering the ball for the FG. Third the refs blew it. The end.

well.... WTF
no time outs, less than 20sec and a down to give for a game winning chips shot FG....
thus: Spike the frigging ball there and win the game. Most coaches would kick on 3rd down in that situation anyway just in case of a bad snap. For the win is for the win.
as Sehorn pointed out, in CFB the act of going to a knee is enough, knee doesn't have to touch.
I can't help but thinking of Clint Stoner (do I have that right?) when he put the ball on the turf for AR stumbling. It was ruled a fumble in that case, not down. Quite similar, ball on the turf and no other body parts down.

We have had a game like that with the auburn ref gate PI/no PI call.
I watched the whole ASU game and poor coaching by ASU should have cost them the game and then wouldn't you know it the Wisc QB makes a stupid play with no sense of urgency.
Refs blew it at the end, but I kind of wondered why it wasn't a fumble. It looked like he just put the ball on the ground.
I do enjoy watching games that have wild ends because it always reminds me that until the game ends, literally anything could happen.

Refs had money on the game
They've been "reprimanded"

He didn't forget to kneel and that had nothing to do with the problem anyway.

It isn't similar at all actually.

Literally the dumbest post I've ever read on the Rant. Do you even know what was happening?

Technically a fumble and a live ball. I couldn't see if his knee touched or not. Officials aren't supposed to direct a team what to do. Placing the ball on the ground doesn't make it become dead. Obviously the team wanted to try a FG but it isn't fair to the other team to instruct them on what to do.

Doesn't have to kneel. Just touch the ball on the ground, play over.

No, not similar in type of play or in context of the game.
but definitely similar in the sense in both cases the ball was put on the ground, no body parts touched. Different calls if I remember correctly. Stoner was a fumble, Wisky was down (then the refs fubar'd it).
