Tired of being given this false hope every single off season that things are changing for the better and we will be much improved. It's easy to fall for because of the talent level being raked in every year, but at this point I can't trust a word any coach, player, or anyone in the athletic department for that matter says until I see proof at the end of a season.

Well the common thread is Alleva. Losing starts at the top with him.

You can add king Alexander in there as well. The problems at LSU are 100% lack of leadership. Hiring O was a mistake and anyone who says differently is not thinking clearly.

You have to realize LSU , SEC, NCAA, ESPN, CBS, FOX etc are selling a product.
All the hype is bull shite. They are all selling something. Only believe what you see. You are smart enough to make judgments on what you see. Don't build up false expectations take it one game at a time.

I'm tired, too. I woke up in the middle of the night and my first thought was "Was it a bad dream?"

I left LSU in '87 and settled out of state. Was so busy traveling in the 90's that I didn't even pay attention (though I probably would have if the teams hadn't been so bad). I was so out of touch, I remember a college friend having to tell me good Cecil the Diesel was three or four years after he played.

Jumped back on the bandwagon after watching LSU beat someone in a bowl game early 2000's. I've been all in ever since. Can't imagine the hours I've spent on this site and others (like Dandy Don), the money I've spent on LSU apparel, gear and paraphernalia, going to games like Lambeau and Bama last year. Especially over the last 10 years, everything has revolved around LSU football. My wife doesn't even bother trying the dissuade my insanity.

But that all may have changed last night. It has always been on my conscience that worshiping this idol is unhealthy - so maybe it's a blessing for me. (And yes, this is the perfect example of idol worship revealed in the Bible.) I'm in the Nashville area and went to watch that great team play in Knoxville in '11. However, and sadly, I will not be going in November. Just not worth it anymore.

I have some good news for you. You no longer have to be worried about being fooled by all the talent being raked in. Our classes are filled with 3*.

Isn't F. King running the academics into the ground too?

The problem is, LSU does not need a whistle blowing, Xs and Os kind of coach. They need an executive. I know people here hate to hear about Saban, but he is the best example. He's not just a football coach, every aspect of the program from the guy that washes the towels, all the way up to the top, is managed meticulously, from the very first moment of each season/year to the very last moment. By the time game one comes along, everything is where it needs to be. The mental and physical preparation for the entire season should've already been done. The sloppiness of yesterday it's inexcusable, and frankly if they're not where they need to be emotionally and mentally and physically, it's too late for that now. At this point, all that can be done is try to correct as many mistakes as you can and game plan for the next game.

I'm not in the lunatic fringe, ready to light myself on fire and step off the ledge just yet, but I'm scared that we are facing the inception of "Mike Archer 2.0"

I get it dude. I wish I didn't care as much as I do. The causal fan just goes on. I've worried myself all day about the rest of the season and the future of the program. I never played a down for lsu and life will go on. I just can't put down "the needle".

I've become less passionate (although still watching every move like a hawk) each year for the last 4 years. I used to be down about a loss for a week, now within the next couple hours, I'm over it. Guess that's what mediocrity feels like.

After Saban we lost that (we are going to be even better next year) feel. Les just rode the wave. We lost crucial instate talent and never developed a QB.

Felt like the LSU brand was bigger than the actual product.

Seriously...we are so lucky and 5 or 6 lucky PLAYS away from having a different perception of our whole program.
