Nice logic. Just because we scored 2 points more than Tennessee doesn't mean we had a better offensive game. Tennessee was able to move the ball keep their defense off the field.

Well they dominated tebow/urban with their spred option. Urban quit. Dominated sumlins spread, will dominate au's spread. Tenn got a whopping 14 from their spread. I don't see where the spread is the answer.

Well I can play that game too. Our scheme moved the ball on bama last year as much as Tennessee did this year. So is it scheme?

I don't think you understand how time of possession works....

I think I do. When you can't stop the other team, they possess the ball over more time. Each team is given equal opportunity to stop the other. We could not stop them as much as they stopped us. We won time of possess last year with the same scheme. I'm confused why the scheme worked last year but this year, because of scheme, we couldn't possess the ball? Is it scheme or players?

It is scheme when it is obvious that your gameplan is to run it no matter what. I don't like the triviol bitching about coaching but it was obvious that Fournette wasn't running through bama last night. LSU scored those 10 points by opening up the offense and then went right back to trying to run through a 8 man front. Wasn't gonna happen

Not converting third downs and getting first downs is what kills time possession.

It was painfully obvious both our lines got whipped. There is no scheme for that....

Man, I thought I saw us pass coming out of the second half and they got an int. I thought our stats show 50/50 pass run last night. We must have seen different games. I saw Harris pass and not complete many. He did complete to Hawkins, missed a lot too. So, if you try to pass and that doesn't work, what scheme do you go to then?

It's no use, fans see what they want to see, regardless of reality.

The quandary is that what we do on offense is so effective against most every one except one team. Now how do you go about it? Change everything to beat Bama? But how about if we end up with a team that does not match up with Ole Miss, UF or Aubie very well? Is it all about beating Bama at all costs as if all existence depend on it?

Here is an analogy. Oklahoma beat the chiiite out of Nebraska for a stretch in the 70's and 80's. Oky 12 wins and 4 losses over Nebraska. Did Tom Osbourne and company change everything for Oky? No as far as scheme, yes as far as recruiting.

They went out and secured dominant OL. They started recruiting players more aggressively outside of their traditional recruiting areas who were superior athletes. They invested heavily in their S&C program and facilities **(on a side note - Regardless of criticism on here, LSU is still fine in those departments). When they started matching and exceeding Oklahoma on the recruiting trail they started winning over Nebraska again.

You didn't watch the game if you think bama had 8 in the box.

If you don't think scheme is important you don't know football.

Most teams have gone to the spread...why? Because they don't have the athletes to lineup and run it down a teams throat. They are "scheming" for an advantage.

Now let's look at bamas defense...year in year out they have monsters in their front 7. They are the perfect defense to defend LSU. There is only one hope we have to beat them when we play them and that is for the defense to get 3 n outs or turnovers because our only chance to have success against their defense is to wear them down. Frankly I am not even sure if that is impossible with all their depth.

We are the easiest team to defend against if you have the players...Bama does.

Offenses that have success against Bama spread them out. Hell they even mentioned last night Bama used 2 defense tackles who rarely play because of that.
