BigJ what are the big gripes with O the last 2 games?

I’ll take this one, because I’m in the same boat. I still think Orgeron is a terrible excuse of a head coach.

But, I have to give him credit for the last two games. Was Florida a great team? No, but LSU could have easily thrown in the towel after the loss to Troy and folded like a cheap lawn chair. They didnt. They came out and won an ugly but hard fought game. Orgeron deserves at least some credit for having his players fight back like that.

Same thing with the game yesterday. Auburn is a good team and jumped out to a 10-0 lead in the matter of minutes. LSU never gave in and the defense was lights out in the second half. Orgeron gets some credit for not letting the team think they were out of it.

I still think Orgeron leaves the program in worse shape than it was when he took it over and I still don’t think he’s our coach in 3 years, but he deserves some credit for the last 2 games. If he goes 9-3 and pulls in a top 5 recruiting class then I may change my tune, but as of now he still deserves all the criticism he gets for losing to Troy and getting blown out by MSU.

Whether it's bs or not, there are still people that want the coordinators to run the team independently from the head coach and they think that is a good thing.

That is everyone’s expectation, and that is what was sold as part of his hire. That’s why we’re paying these coordinators the money. No big deal in my book. Many head coaches use this style.

I picked LSU to lose 31-17. That does not mean I don't support the Tigers. As I've said, I was staying put in section 610 until the clock went to zero no matter what.

I'm eating mine medium rare with some fava beans and a nice chianti.

I said 31-10. Damn near turned it off and went back to fishing at 20-0.

They didn't quit and showed their mettle. Heart. Congrats to the players AND coaches for hanging around mentally.

We still don’t look consistent and the game was frustrating to watch for a good minute. It’s great that the team isn’t going to go 2 - 10 but I still expected more than this from O’s first year and he should be held to task for his performance unless the team can start beating teams like Auburn consistently for four quarters

What successful programs have a head coach that is not involved with either side of the ball?

The kids DO deserve props for playing with heart last night but I'm criticizing the coaching, specifically the head coach right now

I'm still not sold on O in the long term and I still think Alleva needs to go, but I'll give Orgeron credit for holding the team together after the two losses and after finding themselves in a big hole early yesterday. They could have easily folded up after the first quarter but no one panicked and they fought back. The whole team and coaching staff should be commended for that.

He did nothing, which is what he was hired to do.

If he contines to do nothing, LSU will be the best version of what it can be under his stewardship.

Everything about his history tells me this hands off version of Orgeron will not last for long. And when he does go back to meddling I really can't blame him. It's unnatural and unreasonable to be in charge of something and have no ability to affect the outcome.

This team can overcome adversity

But they're still too emotionally driven
I don't see Alabama shitting the bed in the 2nd half like auburn did.

If this team still plays like this then bama will most likely be the only other loss. Arkansas isn't too good right now, we have the Aggies number, and ole miss has more turmoil than LSU

Clemson, FSU under Bowden, PSU under JoPa, USC. There exist more management style head coaches than true specialists who control the particular side of the game.

It is depends on how you define "involved"? I'm sure that coach O is involved in developing the game plans. Also, he makes critical in game decisions. It's okay if you hate him, but it's just stupid to suggest he does nothing.
