If we had beaten Troy, do we win last two weeks?

I highly doubt we would have won against Florida and auburn in back to back weeks. That loss may have been the best thing that happened to us.

I don't know about it being the best thing that happened to the team. But,it definitely appears to be the catalyst for this turn around.

This is an undeniable truth. Fans are mostly "here and now" types. Look at what happened after the Troy loss. This team was never going to contend for a national title this year. An absolute asswhoopin at Miss State and the embarrassment at home to Troy. Now, two hard fought never give up victorys against tough SEC teams. No loss is enjoyable, but once in a blue moon, a loss is invaluable.

this is what is so heartbreaking and mystifying about those 2 losses. "bewildering" to use Doug Moreau's descriptor. losing to Troy? wut???? blown out by MS St.? ok, maybe, but still doesn't make sense, really. blown out???? there was a lot at stake and the coaches and the team looked as if they had no motivation for either of those two games. it looked as if they couldn't be bothered. the head coach still seems blase about the two losses. LSU was ranked 13th preseason; no reason why to think they could not be contenders at the time.

Now LSU with very little offense just beat two ranked teams in a row. Auburn was ranked 10th! if LSU wins next week, they could have been going into the Bama game undefeated had they not lost. could have been the number 1 vs. number 2 (at least top 5). not contenders?

LSU may be a notch or two (or three) below Bama, but they could certainly have been in a much better position vis-a-vis bowl games, rankings (and recruiting) and the upcoming game would certainly have had much more allure for fans, super fans and the entire CFB world.

the offense is still very inefficient. they seem to be playing on talent and grit alone, not execution. I have to wonder if they even practice a passing game. and I still want to see all of that superior wide receiver talent integrated into the game. good to see Chark rebound. But the defense is rounding into shape and playing up to pre-season expectations. there is a heat seeking missile at middle linebacker and the dbs are living up to billing. the d'line is almost back to full speed and with a week off after Ole Miss may be close to full strength for Bama.

I did have much higher hopes for this team. I am glad to see them playing much better, at least from an effort standpoint. I hope as always that they win out, but those two unexpected losses are very disappointing. whatever the coaches goals were at the beginning of the season, they have under-achieved.

You make an excellent point. This young team may have needed that.
