I don't think thread is dumb. I've seen teams have Top 10-15 recruiting classes and not do well on the field. LSU does have high recruiting rankings, sometimes it translates to the field and sometimes it doesn't. Look at all our 4 star DLs currently. How many 4 stars are on MSUs OL? You know the team that just pushed LSUs DL around. I saw Tennessee have a NO.1 ranked class and not 5 guys were there as juniors...and the transfers didn't have much success at their new spots, same with NDame except their guys stayed ...just weren't very good. Many of our DLs had very good offers from top schools...sometimes they don't pan out or develop slowly or maxed out in high school and never progress. If you get hit hard in one or two position groups with these type deals you are in trouble especially with lineman.

LSU does not have a top five class every year. Check 247 and Rivals. Bama, Auburn, and Georgia have done better. check Florida's rankings the last five years. Les' inability to land a top QB every year has really hurt LSU. As of now, Herrin,Gilmore and Bain have been major busts. Lack of quality depth on DL killed LSU last year and seems worse this year.
