The reaction would have been severe nationally. With Petrino, it is quickly forgotten. Just pointing that out before the season starts. Miles will make some mistakes. Everyone does.

Miles has earned a reputation of not being responsible with clock management.
He is, in a word, "suspect".

Miles will never call timeout in that situation because he wouldn't have an assistant coach telling him to.

Choc.....man I tore that office up and could not find that information you were looking for. My wife could have thrown it out, although she denies doing so (of course).
I'll keep a look out for it but at this point, I'm not holding out much hope. Sorry man!

Petrino called a timeout at the end of the game which helped AU just run the clock out after 1 running play.

It was the most idiotic decision I've seen in football.

Louisville/Auburn game

Petrino uses last time out around 45-50 seconds after an Auburn penalty on 3rd down. Clock was already stopped. Auburn runs on 3rd down essentially ending the game. Mind-boggling

Because it wasn't a mistake. The ref said it wasn't a "runoff situation" meaning that they wouldn't run off 10 seconds as punishment when Auburn committed a penalty (which is what they do to disincentivize late penalties to bleed the clock). But the clock would have started anyway despite that it was not a 10 second runoff. So petrino made the correct call because he had to use it on 3rd down or 4th down, with the result being the same.

The media has unfortunately confused "not a runoff situation" (which means no 10 second run off) with "clock will not start." The clock was going to start, so it was not a mistake.

End of the Auburn-Louisville game. Clock is stopped on a penalty and it is 3rd down. Louisville has one timeout and 50 seconds. Let Auburn run the play and call time out and get the ball back with 40 seconds and down 7.

Instead, Petrino wastes the time out with the clock stopped and Auburn is able to then run out the clock. Louisville never gets the ball.

You didn't hear about it? If Miles had done it you would have heard all about it.

Didn't see the game, and I might be super wrong, but I thought they didn't stop the clock for penalties...

This is an LSU site, so I would certainly hope so.

David Shaw called a time out to start the second half.

doesn't fix Miles, though.

All of this. He did not waste a timeout.

Exactly. If they kept the clock stopped with ever penalty, teams would just jump offsides all the time if they didn't have any timeouts.

ETA Well not all the time. But say you are on defense facing a 3rd and 15 with no TO's, offsides, 3rd and 10. Stop for 2 yards, 4th and 8, offsides, 4th and 3, get the ball back.

Please do not compare Louisville to LSU on a national scale.

Schools, no, but Petrino is a big name, mainly for not so good reasons, certainly.
