If LSU wins the toss, do we choose to defend first?

Definitely. Do whatever we can to try and rattle the true freshman right out the gate

I was at the (I believe Auburn) game where we won the toss and said we'd like to go on defense first instead of doing the correct thing and deferring to the second half. All was okay as the Aubies got a 15-yard penalty for stomping on the eye and we did a successful onside kick to start the game. Of course, we still had to kick off the second half as well.

Normally I'd say yes, but strangely, we didn't defer in the Ole Miss game. If we can take the ball on the first drive and score a TD, it will be hell on Hurts. I have to go spank it now just thinking about it.

This is why it could be interesting. It's a big gamble to take that the offense will be clicking at the start of the game, but could also be a big reward if successful.

ETA: I would still defend first bc there's still a good chance to rattle Hurts from the start, and offense always seems to be slow starting.

Not sure if I realized that we made that error in that game. Sounds like it was the 9/11 game that got postponed. I watched it after an office Christmas party without knowing the outcome, which was probably the last time I was able to completely avoid updates (also was in Texas, which helped).

Kind of surprising that a Saban coached team would make that kind of mistake.

My guess is the coin toss will be the first thing the SEC cheats on

I always want the ball first. Ideally, we'd get a lead and make them play from behind.

No. They want to take the crowd out of the game early.

No. They want to score and shut you up.
